I think some of the advice here is atrocious.
Making a -EV play because you're running hot is still a -EV play and a symptom of an even more -EV *trait*, superstition. Yes you will run hot and cold but it will have no effect on the mathematics of poker. You're still as likely to lose no matter what has happened before, and if anything, making these plays is a good way of going from hot to cold.
This is not a "marginal" call. Hero is simply donating chips to his opponents here. The only value of the play would be for image purposes.
If the guy with AA had won he would have tripled up to 12k and here would be down to less than 23. All of a sudden you have a serious opponent and a smaller stack.
Hero also states that the shorty was in "all-in mode" and at the same time says this was a chance to knock an opponent out. If he's in all-in mode there will be better chances, like when you have a hand that isn't *certain* to be a dog and half the table *isn't* left to act behind you.
Incredibly bad play and even worse advice given. In this situation your calling range should be something like AJs and PP's 88 or better and you should be re-raising to isolate most of the time.
And Snowman, if you don't realise where you've gone wrong in this thread your social skills are even worse than your advice.
