I recently qualified for a $28k guaranteed $150+$13 two days running. My usual level is $24+2.
Anyway first tourney lasted 15 mins when I raised and fell in love with TT on a flop of J99 and was busted. I'm an idiot. No comments required on this!!!
Second tourney has been constantly going round in my head and I am not sure what I could have done differently.
I see no cards for first hour on very aggresive table, I call one raise from small blind with Ax suited and make an i'll judged out of position bet with bottom pair vs hyper aggressive who pushes and I fold.
After the break my M is 12.9 and the deck goes even colder, pretty much every hand has at least a raise and a call and I have literally nothing I can get involved with.
45 mins later my M is now 5.2 and blinds will increase before I post them. Bubble is a long way off. I am in middle position with 98os with two limpers. My frustration gets the better of me, I push and get busted by utg limper who called with T9s.
My question are on how you deal with cold deck in these circumstances. What are your minumum hand requirements when the blinds are starting to eat your stack and you need to make a stand?
What do you do if the deck is seriously cold? (In over 100 hands I was dealt just one pocket pair, and that was 22 when someone had already pushed!)
