The Old West & Poker - Patience

Kwai Chang Caine was raised by Kung Fu Monks...thru circumstances beyond his control (getting outdrew on the river) he roamed the Old West in search of adventure and his brother. (in search of another good NL poker game) He was calm, humble and had a quiet confidence about him. (all good poker traits) But he had one more trait more valuable than all the rest...soon that trait would prove valuable once again...

One day Caine walked into a saloon and ordered a glass of water for his tea. Some rowdy tough bully cowboy (wild poker player, playing any 2 cards, can’t put him on a hand, since he raised and reraised with anything, 2 7 off through AA) came up to Caine, bellering and mouthing off and being a total pain in the neck.(raising on the button, with his 10 7 suited) Caine (looked at his hand, J 9 off, and folded his SB) ignored the bully and walked to the other end of the bar. Bully cowboy, feeling satisfied, started bullying some other cowboy.(pulled in the pot with his bluff)

This went on for an hour, the thought-he-was-tough cowboy, half drunk now, (had built his stack into the chip leader with his bullying bluffs) still was mouthing off, intimidating everyone in the saloon. Kwai Chang Caine was over in the corner patiently sipping his tea . (waiting for the right hand and the right situation...had picked up few pots, steadily and slowly building up his chip pile, instead of going for the sudden double up, was in next to last place in chips now...at the final table with only 5 people left...but at least he’d survived and was STILL IN THE GAME, while 145 people had been sent packing...better to not panic, wait for your hand, THEN be aggressive with it)

Then the cowboy stopped in the middle of the saloon and challenged all comers to a fight, pulling his 45 out, waiving it around in the middle of the room. (he had AA and raised small with it UTG, some dude had 10 10 and reraised the pot, cowboy one off the button had 77 and called, Caine looked down and saw his 89 suited... might play well with a few players already all in... divorcing himself from the outcome, Cain called with half his chip pile. Bullying chipleading cowboy calls, thinking he's going to go all in right after the flop with his big chip lead... being drunk, he didn't think of going all in right there, preflop... moral - don't drink and play)

Flop comes 5,6,7 rainbow... Bully goes all in with his AA, dude goes all in , one off button all in.... Caine shows no emotion, he’d learned from his Monk buddies not to care about the outcome, winning or losing, he treats it all the same and calls with the rest of his chips. turn and river of no consequence...)

Kwai Chang Caine with his most valuable trait...PATIENCE, (took the pot, big chip lead, then took out the bully cowboy and won the tournament) threw the bully out the glass plate window and finished his tea.... then walked out into the Old West in search of more adventure. (another NL tournament)
