Think about it this way. If you call and double him up he is now a steal victem. Therefor you can much more easily steal his blinds because of his newly aquired chips. Also, because of people seeing your call with 6 7, I can almost guarentee you that you will receive at least 3 walks which will equate out to 15k. Therefor when you call and lose, these chips will come back to you most of the time because of your image, your only threat now is resteals which are going to happen to you regardless at some point.

MTPaid you made a very good point about chips being to your right, chips go counterclockwise in a tournament and that is a fact. Obviously if you could set out a seating chart at the final talbe it would look like this.

Seat 1(you) 1,000,000
Seat 2- 100,000
seat 3- 200,000
seat 4- 300,000
seat 5- 400,000
seat 6- 500,000
seat 7- 600,000
seat 8- 800,000
seat 9- 900,000

Obviously if you could get a table set up like this you would be a huge favorite to win tihs tournament because you can resteal from the bigstacks and play big hands at the bigstacks, while at the same time forcing the shorter stacks to have a big hand in order to play (they would have to play a hand facing a raise and a reraise).

I do not know if any of you are familiar with Darrel Dickens' Gigabet Dilemna but it is a great (and very complicated) post.

Why wouldn't it work? You are still the chip leader, and people still are hesitant to play a pot with the chip leader because he can bust them at any point. Even if you are a maniac they will still think twice before getting involved in this pot.

The reason he is a threat to begin with is that he affects blind steals to a very extreme measure. He is in your line of fire which will hurt you if he lasts there as a shortie for too long of a period. Honestly you would rather him go broke or even have more chips because then you can be more comfortable in a blind steal. So no I am not saying double up a short stack in any manner, I am saying that sometimes small risks are acceptable when it comes to a short stack.

Anyone with chips is a threat to some extent. (Chip and a chair?) It's not so much that he's a threat now though, but that eliminating him brings me signicantly closer to winning the tournament. With 9 players left, when 1 more goes down, I am now 11% closer to winning while only risking 10% of my chips. As opposed to when 100 players are left, knocking someone out would bring me only 1% closer to my goal so the risk is not worth the reward for me. Now again, I'm not saying I'd risk anything to knock another player out, but I thought that it was an acceptable amount of risk to reward ratio.

While you may come across the same situation many times in cash/ring games where the blinds never change, in MTT's you can come across so many different situations where there is so much more to consider.

Maybe he brings you significantly closer to winning (not sure i agree but that is semantics, but that does not equal a significant increase in real dollars).
