Different table from the last one, but I do know some of the players (the guy to my left is very good)--just not villain in this hand.

I have full stack and Ad7c6h5d in MP1 with 8 players and 1 UTG limper with a double-stack of $470 (pokertracker ratings give him a fish icon, but I really hadn't noticed his being a horrible player). Unknown player in CO ($160) calls, as do SB (another loose idiot), BB and UTG.

Flop comes Jd3s4s, giving me 9 clean outs. Loose idiot in SB with $130 in chips bets $26 into the pot of $48. I call, as does unknown in LP.

Turn is 4d, pairing the board but giving me the diamond draw. I'm just not counting on diamonds now that the board has paired, so when loose idiot bets $52 at it with LP yet to act, I fold (not at all sure what loose idiot should have here, but I think there are better spots anyway). LP calls.

River 6d. Loose idiot checks. LP puts him in. Loose idiot folds.

I don't think I have any problems with my own play here, although I'd be interested to know what others put loose idiot on here--some kind of random 4 that made trips on the turn? I don't have a problem giving LP credit for a boat. He seemed fairly tight from what I could tell.

It seems reasonable yeah. I'm not happy calling anybody there with someone to act behind, it's amazing how badly the possibility of drawing dead hurts your equity even if it occurs at quite a low % of the time.

Yes, although drawing dead isn't quite as taboo as I had thought if it's happening rarely.

Let's say 10% of the time your opponent has a lock and the other 90% you're a coinflip. Your equity there is simply 90%*50% = 45%. So, you're way better than 2:1 to call in that scenario.

I think the trick on these is staying objective with regard to the number of times you may be drawing dead--AND, you have to be in really good shape the other times. 90% of 33% isn't going to cut it, because right around the 33% range particularly, a percentage point or 2 makes quite a bit of difference in terms of odds. But if you're truly only 60-40 90% of the time, then you're in good shape to call, even if the other 10% you win literally 0%.

You won't necessarily be a coinflip when you're not drawing dead in this scenario. One or other could easily have a 4, someone could have some of your outs shared or counterfeited, and any player with a pair or two kills a flush out. But yeah I take your point re: drawing dead - it's all about the maths baby!
