Full Tilt Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game

Is this a better spot to check call to induce a bluff. will he call enough with a lower two pair rather than the straight to make pushing the move?

I'm not sure what to ask here besides just confirmation that this is really the only way to play it.

Hand 1 is a cast iron check-call on the river against most opponents (perhaps a check-fold if he's totally passive and bet out if he's totally loose). I'd also be slightly wary of a bottom set, against which you'd say the bet by not making it as I doubt he'd push the river; not much of a consideration but it's maybe worth a couple of bucks of equity in favour of check-calling.

Hand 2 is fine. I don't really see how you can fold on the flop when it's very possible they both hold sets. Certainly don't push all in on the flop as you'd like to fold your last 100 on the turn if the board pairs (unless you think there's any chance BB doesn't have QQ, which seems quite unlikely unless he's a major donk).

Yes, it becomes a marginal fold IMO. Three way vs a set and a flush draw you're in quite bad shape to shovel in a fairly large stack (check twodimes!). Some would play for a stack then (especially if you have a very strong feeling that both opponents have a set - but even then there's something like a 35% chance one of them also has a flush draw) but I think the +EV from getting it all in when your outs are all clean (which is probably the case less than half the time) is knocked over by the fact you only have 25% equity or so when you're up against a set and a flush draw somewhere. As I said, though, it's marginal.... You could easily get all in in this situation and you'd likely only be a couple of Skansky bucks either way against the typical ranges your opponents would be holding. I'd dump it because I think you're basically gambling here but many would play it and good luck to 'em.

In hand 1 the only hands you're folding out on the river are either hands you beat or maybe a low set. I don't see any value in pushing. Check-call against most opponents (check-fold against people who won't bet without the nuts); in case you're opponent is a calling station and will never bluff the river you may throw out a smallish value/blocking bet, but rare are the times I play it that way.

I'll be very interested to hear more about that. I also don't check a whole lot OOP but would have trouble saying exactly why.

The one exception is if there is a chronic pot-buyer in LP. Then I'll usually check-raise (or sometimes check-call). My more simplistic "philosophy" on this: I don't like missing the opportunity to build a pot if it gets checked around.

I've also gotten into trouble too often checking top set or something with a bunch of players in, only to have no one bet and the flush hit the turn...
