I am new to this game and I've been playing 25PL Omaha Hi on party. I'm wondering what kinds of hands do you call raises and what do you reraise with preflop.

For example, a normal player (not a maniac, not a rock) raises the pot to $2.25 and there is one caller. I'm on the button with AK suited and QJ off. Do you call this raise? reraise? There is one limper in the pot with 120 in his stack, the raiser and caller have average stacks and I had $35.

I'm having trouble with my preflop aggressiveness because of how quickly things change in Omaha. I've lost a lot of money play AAxx no matter what the other cards are because I feel compelled to bet big on any blank looking flop if it missed me too.

Please Monk, ATE, and any other Omaha players, help me get an idea of what kinds of hands I should really pay to see the flop and what I should make others pay even more.

Your AKQJ hand suited to the ace is indeed a fairly strong omaha hand and you should be calling the raise. The trick to deciphering the strength of your starting hands is to look for a multitude of nice "features", think about how it can hit a powerful flop which you'd be willing to gamble your stack on (some hands have multiple ways to do this, these are generally the best starting hands in PLO high) and to make sure you play very few hands containing an "ugly sister" card (i.e. a fourth card which does not link with the others in any way). An example of a weak three card hand would be As Kd Qd 6h... doesn't look too bad but really it's a brick. Anyways, I wrote a fairly long article on starting hand selection at another website (which I'm not allowed to mention ) so I'll post that here for your perusal.
