Let me know if this sounds crazy.

I have now posted 8 straight losing sessions playing SH PLO. In the vast majority of those sessions I was up at some point and ended up bleeding money until I was a 1/2 buy loser. Somehow these sessions hurt more then a session where I start 1/2 a buy down and for whatever reason break even for the rest of the session.

What I am proposing is to stop playing as soon as I go up 1 buy in. I realize that if I was playing constant poker this is going to be -EV. However, over my last 4ish sessions I have had tilt problems so I haven't been playing constant poker.

I am wondering if it will be more +EV for me in the long run to ensure that I post some reasonable wins. This will reduce tilt and hopefully help with my confidence. If I am thinking clearly (which 8 straight might be preventing), this cause me to loose some theoretical EV but also reduce my variance which sounds pretty good when you are running (playing?) bad.

What do you guys think?

I routinely leave a table when I'm up a buy-in and have dangerous stacks that cover, particularly if they have position. I don't necessarily quit playing altogether, but I'll usually quit playing that table.

The reason is this: PLO is inherently very high swing. I'm really just looking to play the game for about a full buy-in and don't like subjecting a double buy-in to those swings.

If you're way over-rolled for the stakes you're playing, I don't think this applies, but deep-stack PLO is just a different kettle of fish, and I'm not completely comfortable with it, so I try to avoid it.
