Since only two people want to play I decide to raise. If it was a field I'd just check it since I'll need to hit a set to win High but here I figure It might well hold up and I want value. I thought his check on the river was extremely bad but how is my play?

I had to think a while on the turn. I figured maybe I should be folding it there, would that be too tight? Obviously I got very lucky on the river. Ok to play it like this? (I wasnät slowplaying the flop I figure I am getting freerolled here and just want to draw to my boat with the best possible odds).

Normally I just fold this on the flop but with so many callers I figured I might have odds to draw. 3 nut outs for a scoop (but will have to dodge) and a the backdoor nut low draw. River I figure guy betting out has the nut low as well so I flat call hoping nobody raises. Turns out we were three people chasing the same gutshot.


Lastly a pure preflop question. I have AQ82 all diamonds in UTG+2. UTG+1 open raises, that's an easy fold unless he's very over aggressive, right?

Hand 1 looks absolutely fine to me. Some would advocate a river bet, I think it depends on the aggression/looseness of your oppo, though in most cases checking is IMO better.

Hand 2 I think you just about have odds to draw on the turn but it's very tight. The main worry is that with a field playing, the chances some of your outs are in other players' hands is increased, which makes coming along -EV. With 9 outs to half the pot, and 6 known cards, you're hitting here about 20% of the time (if we assume we know nothing about the opponents' hands, which is fair enough so far) for half the pot, which is 10% equity or so. So for your $2 (closing the betting) call you want the final pot to be $20+ to turn any sort of profit. This means you need to bag an extra 3 BBs from your two opponents on the river, which seems unlikely, when the board pairs. However, there's always a slim chance your set might be good anyways (and you may get the chance to show it down for free), so factoring that in it's close. Probably a marginal fold but in real terms it's by a very very slim margin.

Hand 3 seems OK. Some would fold that flop but with 5 guys in I think peeling one off is OK.

As to your last question, with position on the raiser I'd make the call there. If you really think you can outplay him you might want to isolate, but generally I don't recommend that!
