should i have not bet the turn? I figured a straight would raise me so I would know. That river card sucks but do you fire again, like $10 or so?

I think you shoulda checked the turn. 78 and heart draws are the most likely hands for them when they called the flop. 50% of them just got there.

With one opponent, you can bet the turn. With two opponents and being out of position, I don't think you win the pot often enough to make that +EV. On the river it is tempting to take another shot at it, although it would again be much better to be in position. However, I have learned that some players get confused when you bet flop (they expect you to have a set), then the turn (they think you got counterfeited but you still bet, and they don't believe you were betting the draw on the flop), so they will often call out of confusion.
I think a subtle "value bet" would not work here against most $50 opponents, and that you have to bet at least what MP3 has left in his stack to appear convincing.

On another note, if you really insist on betting the turn, make it $5, which controls the pot a bit and gives the same information.

Sure, betting the turn will tell you whether you are beat or not, but that in itself is not enough of a reason to bet in a potlimit game...
