Played a couple of hours on Party/Crypto today, fairly nice session, ended up about 5 buyins or so although I was surprisingly annoyed at the end as it really ought to have been more (I made one or two rather stupid mistakes), anyways I haven't posted much from my own games on here for a while so I thought I'd throw some hands up for your perusal. The hand history thing was playing up so I'm afraid you'll just have to cope with it.

This hand played more or less to the book. My hand looks excellent preflop, I'm in early position where I don't usually raise but this hand was playing tight preflop and I saw the chance to shake things up a little with a premium hand.

The re-raiser is a so-so player, he's presumably raising from LP on aces. My hand plays pretty well against aces, I can easily dump if the flop comes all low but if I catch a bit of something I'm likely to be no worse than a cointoss, in some cases considerably better, so it's an easy call. Annoyingly, Crypto don't let you rebuy until you've got 80% of the max stack or less; if I could've got up to 200 here I'd have better implied odds.

On the flop I actually took a slightly unusual line - the other caller is a loose player, but I figure it hasn't hit either player. Although Omacatl may get it all in here with aces, he may not want to call $100with nothing but an overpair (I could easily have 2 pair or a set) so there's some fold equity. At this point it's pretty hard for me not to have odds to call a push given the action so far, so I like the push here. On the flop my opponent is less than a 60:40 favourite, but given the money in so far it's correct for me to call so I might as well try to create a big coup by pushing him out.

The other guy made a stupid call and the final odds looked like this:

Omaha Hi: 666 enumerated boards containing 6s 2d Th
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Ts Kc Qd Jd 207 31.08 459 68.92 0 0.00 0.311
Ac 8c Ad 6d 216 32.43 415 62.31 35 5.26 0.351
Qs 9s 6c 8d 208 31.23 423 63.51 35 5.26 0.339

I'm actually worst off here but with the significant fold equity it's well worth investing $100 in a push here.

Hand 2:

This was kind of a crap one from Party. I'm not too happy with my play here, although I don't think it was too bad. I pretty much never play the hand in this way, the preflop raise from my opponent affected my thinking.

OK, so preflop kind of plays itself, some people would fold that hand to a raise but for me that's too tight, especially given the fact the raise is so small. On the flop, two guys check to me, the last still to act, I decide that as I have the only likely draw (nut flush) and there's only one high card (Q), I'll probably take it down with a semi-bluff.

However, PFRer then raises me. If I'd been thinking here I'd probably have seen that a check-raise spelled danger, but the size of his bet (considerably below the full pot) made me think it was possible he wasn't so sure about his hand, perhaps even would fold to a re-raise. In short, I saw a spot where I COULD make a play at him, knowing that my hand would still have equity if it got all in.

Anyhow, he has the top set and I only have 30% equity (indeed, just shy of it) due to the fact my cards connect well around the Q. On his raise I've got $150 left, final pot will be $390. If I get it all in, I'll be putting in $150 and getting back about $110, clearly not a great move, although if we assume it's possible he has something like AA plus top two, or AA plus a low flush draw (which I thought were possible given the apparent weakness of his re-raise, and the fact he raised PF), against which I have about 40% equity (meaning I'd be putting in $150 to win $150), or even possibly some sort of wrappy hand around the Q maybe with a 7 and a flush draw, or (remotely possible) a bare ace, then we'd say maybe that my last $150 will probably net me about $120-130, absolute max, if it gets all in.

So I need some fold equity to make this move stick; given there's $150-odd in the pot, I need to be pretty sure I can make him fold something like 25-30% of the time. I'm fairly sure that's not going to happen for a raise of $96 for this guy (who demonstrated a degree of looseness in this game). So, although I'm probably only losing 20-30 Sklanksy bucks on the hand by making this play, it was still clearly -EV and a mistake, although at the time I really thought my opponent was contemplating dropping the hand. I guess in a way he inadvertently outplayed me with his curious preflop raise and odd-sized re-raise; had he made a full pot CR I'd simply have folded, I think.

Hand 3:

Might as well throw this in although it's a bit dull - it's one of only four HHs I copied, I'm sure there were more interesting ones but it was kind of wierd to see 4 guys with reasonable stacks all in preflop. I had the "best" hand but it's amazing how often aces are underdogs in this situation (usually both aces are out somewhere else) when you don't have strong sidecards. The problem is, by the time you get to a point where you could consider slowing down, small online stacks mean you're committed. Anyhow, this one had a happy ending.

Usefully, my opponents' cards are kind of blocking each other and I have the only AA, so my equity is pretty astronomical preflop:

Omaha Hi: 376992 enumerated boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
4s Ad 5d Ah 159088 42.20 217904 57.80 0 0.00 0.422
As Ks Qs Tc 39505 10.48 332199 88.12 5288 1.40 0.112
9s 8c Qh 9h 108759 28.85 268233 71.15 0 0.00 0.288
Kc Qc Jd Kh 64352 17.07 307352 81.53 5288 1.40 0.178

42% four handed is almost unheard of preflop. The low equity for the two high wrap hands is pretty surprising, but both hands are badly blocked - my aces and the 899Q player block both ends of the straight, and they're blocking each others chances of making two pair/trips to beat my AA.

Hand 4:

This hand is to illustrate the dangers of multi-tabling - I make an error once in a while because I'm just not able to give me full attention to a game due to playing so many. Sometime I think I play too many, but I make a good winrate and I find it more interesting to play 7 or 8 at once (omaha at these levels is a pretty automatic game for me most of the time, I'm only making plays that I have to put real thought into once every few hundred hands, although I lose the chance to maximise my profits by making more marginal plays and steals).

Anyhow, in this case I play it fairly straightforward preflop, but on the flop I'd assumed the guy who bet out was actually the guy who'd raised preflop. Given that he's also a poor player, after a bit of thinking I decided that it was unlikely I was beaten now, and most likely up against a hand containing only one pair. Had the stacks been deepr I might've been dissuaded from making an aggressive move but here I felt I was ahead maybe 75%+ of the time and he was short stacked so I pushed.

What I hadn't realised is that he wasn't the preflop raiser, and so much more likely to have a hand, in this case one that had me dominated! Whooops...

Anyhow, finished off up $1k or so, so that's nice (won a tasty $950 pot that I didn't manage to copy the HH from, which is a shame as it was an interesting hand). No real reason behind posting these hands but maybe they'll kick off some more PLO discussion.
