I agree completely, however the reason I hate chasing the straight or even calling wraps preflop is that it seems I'm so often up against the same hand. When I count outs to the nutflush or boat, i'm counting to win the pot, with straights it's often to a split pot. Now, if you have a powerful redraw, then yea the strt kicks butt, but how often is that?
Powerful meaning the flush draw or a set; a higher strt redraw (one higher) is just 3 outs against the same strt with flush draw, who has 9 outs to freeroll you.
Without the (pretty rare) strong redraw, I really hate putiting in big bets with a straight or straight draw.
