I was looking to fold but i seem to keep on improving enough and the pot was big enough that I couldn't seem to fold. Did I have to chase or where would you fold?

I probably play this the same way through 5th, where I muck. Two of your threes are dead. If I continue, I raise on 6th when the scare card comes and bet on the end. Represent the straight and hope he folds. You might be best, but probably aren't. Betting allows him to fold Q's up on 6th, which an incredible number of players on crypto are capable of, especially when a scare card hits.

OK. I'll agree that you can call a third-street raise with it here, when the full bet is only twice the bringin. I'll not argue that. If you're going to play it for .50, you might as well play it for $1.

My head is at $3/$6 and $4/$8, where my home is. Bringin is $1, and full bet is three times or four times the bringin. In that case, I'll play it for $1, but I'm not going to for $3 or $4.

But ED, even that is too loose a play according to most every pro I've read on 7 Stud. Ansley Adams in Winning 7 Card Stud and columnists I've read in Card Player tell you not to play three-card straights at all lower than JT9 and to not fool with three-card flushes that don't include at least one Broadway card. The idea is that you'll have to spend a lot of money chasing flushes/straights and watching them go bust, but with the higher cards, you have a chance to make a hand without hitting the flush/straight.

I just read a column in Card Player a couple of months back where the writer (I don't remember his name, but he's a 7 Card Stud expert) said he won't even play a baby three-card straight flush for that same reason.

I used to ignore that advice, but the more I play, the more I realize that they do most of the time only spell trouble, and I've backed way off those things.
