I am travelling this weekend to Sac-town to visit relatives and will have some time to kill...wondering if anyone has recommendations of good rooms to play w/in driving distance (say up to an hour) of the state capital. looking for low limit (~4/8) or nl (200-400) games. thanks.

1) Do NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES go to the Capitol Casino. That place is a shithole, the food costs a bunch, the kitchen closes at like 10pm, the players are assholes, and worst of all, they have a BUTTON drop. To add insult to injury, they have those chips that squirt all over the place when you try to riffle em, which for me is enough right there to say fuck that noize.

2) GO: To the phoenix Casino is Citrus Heights. That is the absolute only card room i will play in there. Its the stone colds, IMHO. Tell the floorman Rich sent you, and youll get....well, youll probly get a kick in the nuts, but hell, say it anyway.

Comped food, bar with cheap drinks, strippers hangin around from time to time, 4/8 and 10/20 kill, loosest action ive seen almost anywhere.

Also, if you want NL, the LUCKY DERBY is a decent one- its also in Citrus heights about 2 minutes from the Phoenix. The folks arent as cool though, the food isnt comped and there is no bar. But, if you are bent on NL, thats where your gonna hafta go. (They got something like 2/2/3 $200 buyin NL, i think) - they also have 4/8.
