My generic answer to questions about my hand is, "I've got two cards.". After the hand, if someone asks, I tell the truth or lie about half in half. If I tell a lie, I usually tell them what they want to hear, which sounds like the truth to them, sometimes I obviously lie and say I had some rags, so that they are assured that I had a bigger hand than I likely held.
I frequently wear a cap, and can spy on the other player while appearing to stare blankly at a chip in the pot, which is my typical pose anyways. I avoid staring people down directly unless I think the situation calls for it.
The tells I use most often, weak means strong, strong means weak and staring at the board if it helps them. If all of a sudden they peel their eyes away from the football game long enough to stare at the T on turn, it probably helped them. Some people are the reverse of this, and staring at the board is a sign of weakness while the game is strength, but I found the majority to be the former.
