Uhh...I agree with Xas here. Pretty decent PLO hand, horrible PLO8 hand. You need pretty much EXACTLY what you got on that flop and turn to make a hand, and then you are still in deep on the river. If you made the str8 on the other end of your hand you'd split with a low.

Kuso, I agree that you can play good omaha hi hands in a hi/low game, but this is not a good omaha hi/low hand for the reasons I stated earlier. What do you hope for with this hand, a flop of 888 or 777? If bri's hand was 9TJQ or TJQK then hell yeah, play it without a doubt. In this situation he got the perfect flop and turn and still had to dodge a shitload of outs on the river.

On the turn he has a non nut straight with no redraw to anything other than an asskicking, and it was the PERFECT flop. If the turn was an 8 then he'd have the nut straight, but have to dodge higher str8 outs, plus every low card in the deck that will almost assuredly make a split pot. He would have 4 boat outs, but they'd be to an underfull.

Yeah, this is a loose limit game and can be played as such, but I find it hard to believe that it is a +EV call, even with the 7:1 implied odds preflop.

no, the perfect flop, besides actually flopping the straight is 67J so that every straight i hit is the nuts.

Sure, but then 80% of the time you are splitting with a low and will often be getting freerolled after the turn hits.

I guess the best you could hope for would be TTT or 999 so there's no low possible and you'd have to pray someone has AA and someone else has KK.

just a few comments:

- the pot odds were marginal (as i said), but the implied odds were great even if he had to split.

- as for the dead money and pf call, you still seem to be thinking of pot odds. i won't disagree that the pot odds weren't hot.

- you know what a nut high str8 looks like, so i'm not going to spell it out for you. as i said before, i don't really care about splitting with so many people putting money in the pot. i'd certainly rather scoop, but i don't think it's necessary.

- you don't have a bajillion opportunities at a live lo8 table... you're lucky to get more than 20 per hour from what i've been told. i think everyone is pretty much thinking the same thing, so...

- you keep talking about the nuts, and i just don't think that this game was one in which you really needed to play nut-only hands in order to be profitable (clearly). if you keep waiting around for the nuts in a live O8 game, you risk getting killed by the blinds/rake and by not getting paid off when you hit. you seem to have been mentally scarred by some LO8 nutpeddlers. get some help.

- i'm glad to see that you're selective about your farm animals. now if you can just teach some of that to Monk and MVP.
