So I played some Hold'em. It's late and I have a bit of a cold. Haven't played poker in close to a month so I'm getting warmed up at the $25 tables. No really good tables, stack an overplayed AA with my quads but also get my oesd+fd all-in check/raise called by a higher flush draw and don't suck out so I'm only up half a stack and getting bored. So I switch to Omaha the fun game.

I wasn't planning on reloading on any of my tables, if I bust at one table I quit for tonight, that's why I'm short. Haven't played that long. Was about to fold this hand preflop but figured... what the hell, I have a suited Ace and a wheel draw (I barely count pairs below T's).

Kyc tends to make CB's but I am a bit surprised when he bets into a field. Obviously I consider folding but I figure I will call and see what the rest of the field does, if someone raises I'm likely to fold. Well.. someone DOES raise but.. wtf... everyone goes all-in. All of a sudden I am staring some crazy odds in the face. Took my whole time bank before I decided to call. Obviously the straight is out there so I *have* to improve, but what I am really scared of is of course 66. At least one straight out and most likely someone has the nut flush draw, but that doesn't account for everyone so I'm thinking a set is out. Even if it's 44 they're killing my outs. I couldn't proccess the numbers in my head so here's what I ended up with:
1. If nobody has two-pair or a set this is a slam dunk and has to be huge +EV
2. If someone has 66 I'm dead
3. If they have 44 I'm alive but... and here I got stuck trying to figure out what would happen, finally I went with...
4. I'm a shortstack, fuck it

Ps. Nobody with a straight had a freaking redraw! Is it really a good idea to get it in for an obvious split?

God I suck. Well this hand takes just a few deals after the last one. I make a big raise to isolate obviously but immediatly think "F-ck! I should have raised just enough so that the shortys all-in would have reopened the betting, that's the only way to get the big stack out!"

On the flop I just chicken out. When he bets so damn small I start thinking he's trying to induce a raise with Top Set or maybe he has a draw and wants a cheap card. I totally wuss out, not wanting to gamble for my whole stack and just put in a small raise hoping it will buy ME a free card.

On the turn, well, there's no way I am folding TWO draws to the nuts and since I don't want to fold the river, or have HIM fold to my river bet, I just push it. Push it real good.

well... no time to really make lengthy comments now other than...

hand 1

i like the call the initial flop bet precisely due to what happened. you found yourself in good position to see what your odds were to call the all-in raise. i'm thinking it was +EV to call the raise assuming the 66 wasn't out (not sure what 56 does to the EV). furthermore, you might have a bluff opportunity if no one else calls the initial bet (i.e., the pot is HU) and a flush card comes on the turn. i could also see situations in which you would need to fold (e.g., the raise comes from an LP player), but that's not what happened.

as for the others in the hand... sandrocket should have folded and kyc should have thought about it. not sure about the rest (not interested in actually figuring it out at the moment).


hand 2

seeing that kyc was such a monkey, i would consider pushing on the turn, too. it sucks if he has a straight or a set, but if he's going nuts with 2pr... your ds aces had SO many outs jacks, fives, any club or heart) AND you (theoretically) have fold equity. i think your pot equity was somewhere between 40-50%, so i don't think the turn raise was so bad if you have any real fold equity. care tp run some twodimes numbers?
