Hey Adam
What do you think are the strengths/weaknesses of some of the O8 action that is available online? I like to play in the larger "loose" type pot-limit games available (100 and 200 buyins on PokerStars, when the action is good, usually average pots around 25-30 big blinds and usually 4 or 5 people seeing most flops), but I also like the limit game, though my play so far has been more or less solely the half kill and 4-8 games at ultimatebet, which are often not that loose. I played one O8 sit n go tournament on Party but was basically put off by the hopeless blind structure; after 20-odd hands of poopy middle cards and one heads-up quartering, I was reduced to moving about half my stack in preflop on some mediocre hand as the blinds threatened to nail my stack, with A38Js or some other piece of mediocrity.
Where do you think the "money" is at omaha 8? Mid-limit games at Party? Would you typically see 5+ players seeing a flop at 5/10 here? Do you think that O8 multi-table tournaments (due to the lower "luck factor" than holdem) with deep stacks would offer the above average player the best value, given that the worst players inhibit a site (Party) where the blinds are frequently very large compared to the stacks? Have you played the multi games or sit n go's at PokerStars, which I hear are quite good?
I will likely be playing 3/6 and maybe 5/10 O8 tonight at Party as a change of pace after a couple of months of playing the PL and NL tables in various games, but since I'm moving away from my previous main haunt (Cryptologic's £100 and $100-200 buy in PLO high games) I'm trying a few different things (like my spell at stud8 last month which I'll pick up again sometime soon).
Good luck with your new forum.
