i've had this happen twice now with almost the exact same cards - I have an overfull with KJ sidecards to guard against a higher boat, a queen hits on the river, and villian lights up...

hand 1 - check call the river unless you have a read that he's a moron that will call you down with anything and not show aggression. the way you played, you have to call the raise.

Hand 2 - raise the flop. if a person has the Ace, they likely aren't going away at this point. If they have AT, you could easily be freerolling him or have more outs to scoop than he does.

Hand 1 I have trouble laying down without a good deal of respect for my opponent. There's a straight that he could have been drawing to that you also beat (as well as a flush, but that draw makes little sense unless he somehow stumbled into it). I like check-call on the river better, however.

Hand 2 I guess I have to lay down. He flat calls when you bet into the flush, then comes alive with the Q. You can raise the flop, of course, but I also don't have problems with the flat call since you have both the K and the J covered as overcards. It just sucks that it had to be the Q here.
