So I just had one of the worse O8 sessions ever (I only won a total of 1 1/4 pots in 200 hands of .5/1 limit) so I decided not to play for the rest of the night and work on PTO instead. The result is my first attempt at PTO autorate rules for O8.

I divided all players up using 3 categories:
- VP$IP
- Total Aggression
- W$SD

For VP$IP
- Anyone with VP$IP > 40% is “Loose”
- Everyone else is “Tight”

For Total Aggression
- Anyone with Total Aggression > 1 is “Aggressive”
- Everyone else is “Passive”

For W$SD
- Anyone with W$SD <= 50 is “Loose”
- Anyone with 50 < W$SD < 70 is “Semi-Loose”
- Everyone else is “Tight”

For example I have a VP$IP of 18%, a Total Aggression of 1.3 and a W$SD of 63% (something that I need to work on). That would make me Tight/Aggressive/Semi-Loose or TAsL.

I had 2 extra icons so I made 2 priority ratings:
- Very loose: VP$IP > 50 and W$SD < 45
- Tight-Tight: VP$IP < 30 and W$SD > 80

I would really have liked to be able to divide VP$IP into 3 categories but there wasn’t enough icons and it turns out that W$SD seems more important anyway.

I have data mined about 9K hands with about 1715 players for both limit and pot limit. Here is the breakdown of all the categories in the form Category: BB per 100 / players. I have filtered to only show players with more then 20 hands.

Not bad, but not great for a first attempt at O8 auto rating. I am a little worried that using W$SD is just separating the players who are rushing from the players who aren’t. I am going to continue to data mine because I would really like to see these numbers when I turn the filter up to 100 hands. I'll bet the number of LAT and LPT players go down considerably.
