Preflop limp is maybe a bit marginal? 8 handed and in good position I figured I could get away with it. On the flop I decide to bluff because...
1. I have two of the 6's needed to make the current nuts
2. With no other callers my flush draw is probably good
3. I have an overpair to the board!

On the turn... well, now I am fairly sure he actually has the straight, but with top set and a flush draw I'm not going to fold. I decide to put him in since I doubt he'll pay me off that often on the river if I hit. Good/bad? Can't be too sucky equity wise can it?

I think on a loose-ish table your flop raise is not advisable. You're just too likely to get called here, and you can't even beat someone who holds a draw with a pair higher than 6. If you get called you can't really fire another bullet on just about any turn, even though you are in position. I like a little more bang with my bluff, something you can fall back on. I don't think about the worst possible flush draw counts.

Pushing the turn is OK if you think you have any fold equity or if you think there's any chance your set might be good. Given that your read told you he had a straight it's pretty bad - throwing in a large chunk of chips on a raise in a hand where you think you're 60:40 underdog (or potentially 75:25 if he has straight plus higher flush draw) just because you don't think you'll get paid off if you hit is stupid. Why make a reasonable sized equity error in order to get paid if you do hit? That's like pushing all in preflop in holdem with A9 suited just because you don't think you'll get someone's stack if the flop comes three of your suit. I think you can see the flaw in the logic there?

If your flush draw is good, you have ample odds to call a pot bet on the turn. Even if there's a chance it's not, you have position so you have the best chance to make a judgement call on the river if the board flushes. You'll still probably get paid on a small milking bet if you do hit either of your draws and he has a straight, he can't really fold 1/4 pot or something in case you're just taking a stab at it.

If you think there's any chance he'll fold an A4, or has a weaker set and will call, then pushing the turn ain't too bad. However, his stop go play looks like the typical "wait for a safe turn" approach that many people sensibly take with straights in PLO when the board is potentially scary, so a straight seems very likiely here.

Have another think about the logic of voluntarily pushing your stack in on a drawing hand as an underdog because you think you won't get paid if the draw hits.

This is what i often do so assuming he has no redraws, you do have a decent amount of outs but I still don't like that flop raise and then turn raise after he leads into you again with no improvement. This tells me the straight is there and he's not folding so if you wish to continue if you want to risk that your flush is good too, call, don't raise.
