It depends! What is your ultimate goal, to make the absolute most money you can? To play in the biggest game in which you can win? To make the most overall profit? Or simply to generate the highest BB/hr figure, irrespective of game? All those things obviously have a bearing!
I'd say setting a "realistic" figure depends on all those things, as well as, most importantly, how good a player you are! A great player playing in a crappy game could maybe make 3-4BB/hr playing O8 limit (Michael Cappelletti's suggestion of a maximum figure), but anybody who is winning, period, has reason to be happy. If you are not a player blessed with great talents or patience, then 1BB/hr might potentially be excellent. Anyone winning money, period, is in the top 10% of players, anyone winning more than 1BB/hr, long term, probably a lot better than that. I don't think the absolute best players in a game are liable to be making much more than 2.5-3bb/hr but that doesn't mean it's not necessarily possible in the right conditions.
So, don't set artificial targets. Strive to play your best game and worry more about your game than your winrate, and the money should come. In O8 it should indeed be possible to make a little more than in holdem, given a roughly analogous table and game situation, but whether that actually means anything concrete to you depends entirely on your own cricumstances!
Hope this helps, though I kinda imagine it doesn't
... What sort of numbers are the limit O8 players on this forum who've got PTomaha putting up?
