Currently I am bonus whoring my way around the various crypto sites each month. Generally I deposit and then multi table for about an hour, hit the bonus and cash out.
After I have hit all the bonuses I then play for the rest of the month on 30% rakeback on another crypto site. On average I play about 5000 hands per month across all of the crypto sites and most of these hit max rake ($3).

Would I make more money doing the rakeback thing on its own?

In general, bonuses return a higher percentage of your rake than rakeback schemes. I forget what the percentage is for the crypto bonuses, but if you have PokerTracker you can get an estimate by looking at the amount of rake you paid in the number of hands it took you to clear the bonus.

Also, there are some rakeback affiliates who don't deduct the bonus from the rakeback on certain sites (Interpoker and SunPoker, maybe others too). And if you happened to sign up with an affiliate that does subtract the bonus from the rakeback, some of the crypto sites will allow you to switch affiliates.
