) I am the floor person or "head judge" in addition to playing. We had a situation where I didn't know the answer and just went with my gut. However, I'd like to know so I'm posting it here. This is a little involved so here is a simpler, hypothetical version:
Player A: 10,000 in chips
Player B: 5,000 in chips
Player C: 1,000 in chips
Player A bets 300, player B Raises to 800, player C goes all in raising another 200 to 1,000 total. Player A then calls the 700. It is player B's action. Can he raise the pot? or is he only allowed to fold or call because player C's raise of 200 was less than the previous raise of 500 which makes it an illegal raise.
I contend that yes, he can raise because this is No Limit and in NL there are no restrictions on how much you can bet at a time. So, since player B now owes the pot money, has chips left, and its his turn to act, I see no reason why he cannot re-raise (it would have to be at least $500 more) and/or go all in.
