With 88 here u definately wanted him to push....he'll have Ax or something else u dominate about half the time. 99% of the other times its a race.

You should try and mix it up in these situations though. Since there's 20k+ already in the pot an open push would of been good also. Maybe push a couple times and then when u pick up a huge hand just make a 3x BB raise...making it look weak. Or u can do it the other way around...make the 3x BB raise standard for a couple rounds then open push with a good hand. Whenever u do something different your opponants think its a bluff..usually.

I probabably would have pushed because I do not want to play 88 post flop and OOP is a pot that is going to be so big compared to my stack, plus, his stack in only about 10bbs - open pushing is best.


if he flat calls, the pot is going to be about 100k, your stack will be about 170k and his about 100k. that doesnt leave a lot of room.

88 sucks postflop. BB is 1200 and after posting BB only has ~13k. I open shove this almost every time. You really cut off his range and take a free orbit enough times to make it a winning play.
