Hello all!
I have been reading the posts on the forum and the articles on the main site for a couple of weeks now and I decided to hang around for at least a couple more . Since I'll more than likely be asking lots of questions in the near and not so near future I thought I'd introduce myself.
I discovered poker about 8 weeks ago because a friend at work kept talking about it during lunch breaks. I deposited 50$ on everest poker and after looking up the rules and rankings I started playing the 0,50 / 1 blinds 6 max. Two hours later I had 250 on my account (lost some pots cause I didnt remember a full house was higher than a flush, and because my third 6 wouldnt show up, ...) The next day I decided to try some SNG's and allthough I had so much money I decided to be carefull and start with the 20$ 6 max
After playing three of those I had 1 first place and 1 second place, so I moved on to playing a MTT that same night. Buy-in: 10$. a couple of hours later I ended 2nd and won +300$ (think it was 320)
The next couple of days I had all the bad luck of the world. Every time I went all-in with 66 or AJ someone had something even higher. If I had a flush draw I almost never made my flush, allthough i chased it all the way to showdown. My straights were beaten by even higher straights and so on... In a couple of days I lost all my money (+600$) but 40$.
And then I discovered some articles on the net and realised getting AA 3 times in a row is quite rare (had it 2 times in the first couple of days). Flopping flushes or straights doesn't ALWAYS happen 4 or 5 times in a session. Some opponents call with good cards, even when you go all-in.
After a bit of reading (internet articles & forums, books) & buying PT I started playing again three weeks ago:
0,02-0,04 till i reached 50$
0,05-0,10 till i reached 250$
since then playing 0,10-0,25 and at this moment I have 510$
I know I probably have been lucky again last couple of weeks, but this time I hope the downswing will be a bit less extreme
I really love the game, so I am pretty sure it won't be long before I start posting (asking questions) here on a regular basis. Thx for reading and see you on the forum!
