Playing at Empire $2/4. I'm UTG and get Ad Kd. I raise and UTG+1 re-raises. Folded to me and I call.

Flop is As 8h 7s. I bet, he raises, I re-raise, and he caps.
Turn is 9h. I check, he bets, I call.
River is 3h. I check, he bets, I call.

What do you think he had?

When being played back at just like I play the hand, I am not suprised to fing a similar hand when shown down.
I suspect or even , something sooooted!
It would not even count out , especially if it were at Party.

Yes it would be helpful to have some idea about how this cat played previously but in his position I may have well reraised you with 88 or 99 to try and get it heads up with you and if I had flopped a set of 8's I would have played it the same way except I would have just called your flop reraise so that I could pop you again on the turn for a double Big Bet.

But since you posted this hand he must have had something unusual so I will put him on two pair with a 98.

With my limited experience I'd guess (same reasons as low dough) for a backdoor flush, which gets you steamed up enough to post the hand here

OK so this wasn't a very fair quiz because no-one could predict what he had. He had the mighty Qh Th.

The reason I posted is: I have being doing terribly at Empire 2/4. I was a strong winner for the past year at £1/2 on the Crypto sites, but I don't seem to be able to win at Empire. I have about 5000 hands and am still a losing player (fairly heavily). I'm sure some of it is short-term luck, but it certainly can't all be.

From your experience, do you think that the standard at 2/4 on Empire is generally a poor one? I know not all players play as badly as the one above, but from what I've heard the standard isn't particularly good. Does anyone play on the Crypto sites and Empire sites - and if so what adjustments do you make?
