Starstealer recently made a post asking about a call with 8-8 when he knew that he needed to set in order to continue the hand after the flop. I'm a dedicated NL player so I am familiar with how to play in these situations in that environment, but I don't know about limit. When I pick up something like 4-4 UTG or in some other early position I generally just muck it. My logic is that unless the table is playing very loose/passive I'm not going to get the same kind of implied odds that you get in NLH (where you can take someone's stack with your baby set). The same goes for calling raises with the same kinds of hands. I just don't think that the implied odds are there generally. Am I right on this? What are some guidelinds you use (like now many people are in the pot or do I need to be getting 5-1 on a call) to play low or medium-low pocket pairs in LHE?

I will limp after 3 limpers with PP's 88 or lower as well as Axs. With that many limpers you can easily fold with confidence when an overcard hits and someone bets out. If I am on a very aggressive table (Using GT+ and seeing very aggressive players behind me) I usually muck all PP 88 and lower regardless. I don't want to end up paying 2 sb or more for my 1 in 11 chance to hit the set.

If I am on the button or cutoff and its folded to me I will usually raise, especially if the blinds are tight. If I miss the flop it will generally get checked to me and I can chose to attempt a bluff or take the free turn card.
