Finished last day at work before 4 sweet days of holidays. Got home really geared up to play some and promptly dropped like $700 in PLO and MTT's. Took a break and had some food and wine after that and watched the rerun of the Packers - Vikings game but fell asleep in the 1st quarter and woke up in the 4th. So , for lack of anything better to do I got back on the saddle and played some more, including 2 $50 MTT's which I played decent in but finished like 20 places from the money in both. BUT, I managed to turn around the cash game and the day ended at -$10 totally, but then I had to include the RB that I received today... still pleased as peanuts with the comeback. I'll call it a day and just sweat tommy in the stars 11R now.

The holidays havent exactly been kind to me poker wise. Dec 23rd ended down $1050 and xmas eve another $50. Managed a decent comeback today, up around $500 at the moment. At the moment I'm just fooling around in some MTT's. Played the $55 on stars and busted in the 5th hand or so when my KK got busted by QQ AI preflop. Now I'm playing the 3r on stars and not much else. Hand of the day:

Poker Stars
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $1/$2
8 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $108.20
UTG+1: $36
Hero: $380.40
MP2: $68.15
CO: $430.55
Button: $204.20
SB: $442.35
BB: $42.95

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is MP1 with [Ac] [9s] [4s] [As]
2 folds, Hero calls, MP2 folds, CO raises to $8, Button folds, SB calls, BB calls, Hero calls.

Flop: [Kd] [3h] [Ad] ($32, 4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $30.4, CO raises to $60.8, SB calls, BB folds, Hero raises to $273.6, CO folds, SB raises all-in $434.35, Hero calls all-in $98.8.
Uncalled bets: $61.95 returned to SB.

Turn: [Ts] ($526, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $837.6)

River: [Td] ($526, 0 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $837.6)

Since my last session wasn't a real disaster, this one was bound to be a loser, and it was. Down something like $250 from 2 flush draws that ppl hit against me and that I paid off. One was obvious that I shouldnt have called, the other not so obvious but still a crying call: I also underestimated an opponents hand in 100PLO and that cost me a stack when it turns out I was quite the dog instead of having a decent chance to win it. Oh well. May the new year bring new winnings and so on. I will be falling rather short of my december $4k profit goal because I have been running like a dog lately, but I should end up around $2.5k and that ain't too crappy for a hobby I suppose, I still think I should be able to do better and I have found some areas to tweak in my game and I need to discipline myself more. MTT's continue to be a sad chapter in my poker career as I'm down around $500 from those in december. I'm just to undisciplined / impatient to succeed very well in those at the moment, but I have made a few final tables in the £20 ones on Crypto so I suppose it's not entirely pointless. My average results needs serious improving though or I'll just continue being a donor. I'll also try to improve this journal next year, like posting more hands in here (sadly neglected lately) and anything other I can think of. If anyone should actually read this and have any suggestions what you would like to be in here, please feel free to let me know.
Time to finish up the year at work which will be fun since I have a ton of paperwork that I have neglected for like a month and a half and that is quite due now and I don't really feel like working late. Tomorrow I won't have much time to play if any since we're having guests over for new years eve and as usual the apartment needs a serious cleaning and there's food that needs to be bought and cooked and wines to buy etc etc.

If I don't have time to update this thing anymore before jan 1st, have a happy new year all you faithful readers

Happy new years :)
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

jan 1st 2007

The first session of the year is finished. I had a pretty decent hangover today since we had a rather lively party going last night. Today session started of pretty slow as I dropped about $100 playing SHNL100 and also played 2 MTT's where I went out having pushed dominated hands from too early position. Pretty stupid really. I then got back on track with 100PLO and turned a rather nice profit, especially from a table at stars where there was a true maniac with a pretty huge stack which I managed to get my hands on after a few memorable hands. This guy was pretty special, when he decided to play a hand he bet pot on all streets no matter what he had and no matter if you called him or not, so I decided to go into call-down mode and take him down. This hand was my absolute favorite:

Poker Stars
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $0.50/$1
7 players

Stack sizes:
UTG: $71.10
UTG+1: $28.55
MP1: $131.30
CO: $248.15
Hero: $498.60
SB: $64.75
BB: $100

Pre-flop: (7 players) Hero is Button with [8d] [6s] [7s] [3c]
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises to $4.5, CO folds, Hero calls, SB calls, BB folds, UTG+1 calls.

Flop: [9c] [2h] [6d] ($19, 4 players)
SB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP1 bets $18.05, Hero calls, 2 folds.

Turn: [4s] ($55.1, 2 players)
MP1 bets $52.4, Hero calls.

River: [4h] ($159.9, 2 players)
MP1 is all-in $56.35, Hero calls.

MP1 shows [8s] [7c] [Td] [5d] (a pair of Fours)

Results:
Final pot: $272.6

All in all the session ended up $653 which makes for a nice start to the new year.

jan 2nd 2007

Played some decent poker today working on the Sun bonus and also had a table going at stars

2 PLO100, 1 SHNL100 and 1 PLO200 table

I'm at this moment down around $180 from cash games and $15 from MTT's so not a great day resultswise, but as we all know results are totally unimportant right?? Right??

However there were some nasty beats involved in this and maybe 1½ badly played hand that got expensive so it's not that bad in reality.

Firstly there was the classic KK < AK AIPF vs shortie with $40 stack and then there was this beauty:

Poker Stars
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $0.50/$1
8 players

Stack sizes:
Hero: $94.50
UTG+1: $109.30
MP1: $128.60
MP2: $105.05
CO: $119.10
Button: $76.05
SB: $169.10
BB: $98.70

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is UTG with [Js] [7s] [As] [Jd]
Hero calls, 3 folds, CO raises to $4.5, 3 folds, Hero calls.

Flop: [2s] [Jh] [8h] ($10.5, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $10, Hero raises to $40, CO calls.

Turn: [4s] ($90.5, 2 players)
Hero is all-in $50, CO calls.

River: [3h] ($190.5, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $190.5)

Results:
Final pot: $190.5

he had AKKx with the heart draw obv. and I'm 80-20 on the turn so those 2 accounts for practically all my net loss. I also passively chased a flush draw + 1p HU vs a PFR instead of raising flop which wasted $50, so i'm actually pretty pleased with my play today. I also booked my Vegas trip so thats gonna be fun hopefully!

Tomorrow the new Interpoker reload starts and I'm gonna go for the $400 for 2500 MPP option, then back to sun to finish up, then littlewoods and pokerplex and maybe one more for a cool $750+ which will be nice esp. with RB on top of that. While I was typing this up I finally hit some hands and as of this moment I'm actually up 170 which is good all things considered, hell the way I have been running it's just good, period!

Session ended up $230 in the end but I failed to finish the sun bonus and Im gonna be very tired at work tomorrow...

jan 5th 2007

Tonight the crypto tables were better, no doubt since it was friday evening, but I was worse leading to quite a chuck of $$ lost.

SHNL: -$150
PLO: -$520
MTT: -$140

I cleared $100 bonus and got $250 in RB though so that softened the blow somewhat, but not a good day and not well played either. Ever onwards
