SebQtaneus's Journal Take 2: 2007 (LV trip report here now)

Postby SebQtaneus » Sun Jan 07, 2007 11:47 pm

Last years journal was fun to do for the first 6 months but then it got to be tiresome because of how much time I was spending making sure I updated it every day. But the main reason I failed to keep doing the rest of the year is because of the Black Jack & NL400 meltdown I had in early July where I lost 60% of my BR and felt like puking for about 3 months. I just never really had the 'want' to keep the journal going anymore after that.

But I still think a journal is a good idea. And therefore I am starting a new one for 2007. But I'm changing the format of it. I won't be making daily updates. More like weekly or maybe even just whenever I feel like it. And I'll be posting hands I am proud of or want help with so if you're reading it and there's a hand history, go ahead and please make constructive comments. I can always use the help.

I don't play online poker for a living so I feel no need to just concentrate on one game only and I do get bored with a game from time to time so I like to play lots of different games to keep my interest up.

So, to get started for 2007, here are my week 1 numbers.

+199.40 for the week with no losing days and just one break even day. $10 of that was bonus from Absolute Poker. Played mostly 2/4 and 3/6 Limit 6max at Stars to work on the $150 bonus I have going there. About 30% done with that one. My winnings from Stars kept me above water while I was losing money at Eurolinx Poker trying to finish off my $250 bonus at that joint. Although I did have a decent day at Euro on Sunday where I played as many as 6 tables at a time of NL50. I made a profit on the day and cleared a ton of the bonus. That bonus should be finished in the next couple of days. Hopefully my BR will be back in decent shape for my trip to Vegas in late February.

All in all, while not being a GINORMOUS start to the year like a few of you have had, it is at least a very good way for me to start off the new year.

This Month: $199.40
Year to date: $199.40

Last week sucked so bad I didn feel like posting the results at the time. Long story short, if I played, I lost. To the tune of -$377.54 for the week.

Thankfully, this past week was a bit better and I made a decent portion of those losses back. Finished the week on the plus side for $265.89.

What with the whole NETeller thing happening, and me needing my money out in time for my trip to Vegas in February, I just decided to withdraw now since I am having to have them send me checks which may take awhile to get here. I did leave a few bucks in Full Tilt and PokerStars to dink around with until after the trip but I definitely aint gonna be playing anything big for the next few weeks. Most likely just play some SnG's and try to build up what I have left on those 2 sites.

Jan week 1: $199.40
Jan week 2: -$377.54
Jan Week 3: $265.89
Total for Month: $87.75
Year to date: $87.75

A fun and a not so fun hand in the 2 SnG's I played tonight.

OK, time for an update again.

I've been playing a lot (well, for me its a lot) of SnG's lately since I withdrew most all of my money from the poker sites after NETeller went tits up. Have also played a little SHLHE but have run pretty bad in the few sessions I've played. :( SnG's on the other hand have gone really really well for the most part. Mostly cheapies but some 10's and a 12 thrown in for good measure. Also, mostly 9 seaters but a few 6 and 18 seaters also.

Here's my Sharkscope Stats for SnG's. Now, these go back quite aways so my concerted effort at SnG's of recent is probably not represented real accurately but they seem like decent stats to me. Not sure of why the big ROI difference between the 2 sites but I think it may have something to do with me playing most of my multitable SnG's at Full Tilt. They're mostly 5's and 10's with a few 20's, a 12, some 15's and a 30 thrown in for good measure.

Image

I was on a real hot streak this past week and at one point had ITM'd 6 in a row and 10 out of 12. But today didn't go quite as well although I did win a few and ITM 4 outta 10 today. And one of my wins was in a $10 18 seater which really helped out as I lost $90 playing SHLHE.

I think I'm actually improving quite a bit in SnG's. But I plan on staying at the cheapies until after the Vegas trip next month. If it's still going well then, I will probably move up in stakes. We shall see. Anyway, SnG stats for the past week are ITM 13 outta 22.

Overall though I lost for the week. -$89.75

Jan week 1: $199.40
Jan week 2: -$377.54
Jan Week 3: $265.89
Jan Week 4: -89.75
Total for Month: -$2 :(

This week I played 13 SnG's, 1 double shootout, and an MTT satellite. 4 of 13 ITM in the SnG's which really sucked as I had gotten spoiled from the previous weeks total. I finished a disappointing 44th in the Double Shootout. And I finished 2nd in the Satellite which only paid 1 entry to the tourney I was trying to get into but did pay cash for 2nd so I did at least get something out of it. Thanks to Twelver for railing me on the FT.

I finally got tired of the $5.50 SnG's so the last 3 I played were $11 ones. I ITM'd all 3 which felt very nice.

Today I decided I needed a switch from SnG's. I just had a feeling I was gonna be unlucky if I played them today. So, since I still wanted to play poker I decided to learn how to play NL 6max since that what it seems like what all you balla's are playing these days. So I started a brand new db in PT just for NL6max and away I went. I really fugged up a few hands and the folks I showed them to really let me know it. But I did ok results wise overall for the day so I'm calling my day a success. I won about 8bb/100 over 500+ hands. I have to wonder how that stats would look had I played better on some of the ones I screwed up though.

Jan-Feb Week 5: 21.50
Total for Jan: -$46.20
Total for Current Month: $65.70
Total YTD: $19.50

Continued my new quest to learn NL 6max when I played one 2 table session of NL25 6max tonight for about 1.5 hours. Made about 70bb's in about 300 hands which has lifted my bb/100 up to about 13.4 which is way better than I expected but welcome none the less.

I did manage to actually make a smart fold which is probably an everyday occurrence for the most of you guys but was a nice change for me.

I was OTB with AQo. UTG was a tightass player who raised to 4xbb. I called. Flop came KQx, he bet about 1/2 pot, I folded. That was followed by this exchange.

Dealer: Game #8303052846: xKittyLiquor wins pot ($2.25)
SebQtaneus: sure hope your tightass had a K cuz i folded AQ
SebQtaneus: lol
Dealer: Game #8303062001: Top Gunnar wins pot ($0.50)
Dealer: Game #8303068489: SebQtaneus wins pot ($0.60)
xKittyLiquor: didn't have a K
SebQtaneus: well that suck
SebQtaneus: z
xKittyLiquor: had 2 of them, well actually 3 of them w/ the flop
SebQtaneus: lol
SebQtaneus: nice
Dealer: Game #8303073521: Top Gunnar wins pot ($0.60)
xKittyLiquor: better if you would have called
SebQtaneus: guess i FINALLY made a decent laydown
Dealer: Game #8303078845: Top Gunnar wins pot ($0.20)
xKittyLiquor: don't let it happen again!!!!!!!
xKittyLiquor: lol

Below was a fun hand for me. Not sure if my CR on the turn was a smart move or not normally, but he did call it so it worked out this time. The river I'm not sure how much more I could have bet that he would have called. At least got something out of him though.

I've had quads 3 times in the last 2 days over the 850+ hands I've been playing SHNLHE. Twice I flopped 'em. Probably won't see them again now for quite awhile if things really do go in 3's. But at least this has made up for the gazillion times it has seemed like I flop AA or KK and make a normal raise and everyone folds which of course always pisses me off to no end.

Was a good week pokerwise for me. Well, by good I mean "not losing".

I played 2 more of the $11 SnG's. Took a 1st and a 2nd which makes me 5 for 5 ITM since I moved up from the $5.50's.

I continued the NL25 6max learning quest. Did "ok", until a quads over my boat hand and a few other beats made a nice hit to the winnings I had compiled. But it just so happened that right after that Twelver said come on and play NL100 6max with me. Not sure why I took him up on it, other than the fact that I have played a lot of NL100 FR in the past, but I did. I decided that I would short stack it though to minimize what I would be risking since I am still getting my feet wet in NL6max.

Well, it worked out.

Ever since then I haven't played anymore NL25 6max. Been playing only NL100 6max the last 2 days. I started out buying in for $25 just trying to catch some easy double ups. As I got more comfortable I decided to up my buyins to $40. I am finding something odd though and I know many won't believe it, but I'm finding the play at NL100 6max to be quite a bit looser than the play at NL25 6max. And this is at Stars where I have heard the play is fairly tight. I don't think it'll be too long before I am using full stacks from the git go. Hopefully I can keep winning. I fully expect this next week to be even more successful for me than this last one. I know it's not a lot of money to a lot of you guys but just the fact that I am winning money at all is a nice change of pace.

Feb Week 1 the 1st thru 4th: $65.70
Feb Week 2 - 1st full week: $117.40
Total for Jan: -$46.20
Total for Current Month: $183.10
Total YTD: $136.90

BR is currently at $2.2k+ now
