Just playing in a $2.50 donkabilly tournament for funsies ... watched a set of 8s get sucked out by 99 on the turn/river (9/9). I thought Xas might be able to appreciate the humour. I LOL'd!

Well I haven't updated this thing in a while.

The month is going quite poorly. For a few reasons (THEY ALL REVOLVE AROUND RHODIN AND JOSEPH).

1) I didn't play any real multi-tabling cash sessions the entire time they were here.

2) I played a LOT more tournaments than I normally play, while they were here.

3) We played a bunch of chinese poker (a highly luck intensive game) and I got completely buried by both noobs.

No that is not a joke. They may have actually arrived slightly later than indicated on the graph, but it's definately at the very least quite close.

Turning Stone is having some tournaments again at the beginning of March and I think I'm going to go. I would like to get in some more live play before the WSOP this year and this is a good opportunity. Also, I think I am getting quite good at NLHE cash and I THINK I am ready to play in the big game there this time around. It varies depending on how long the tournament series is and who comes up for it. I think this time it will likely be a 5/10 uncapped game where a limp costs $20. I will play up to $10/$25 if Smokey and Roman and Yellowsub and whathaveyou aren't there.

I think I'll make my reservations tommorow and if I make $8000 in the next week I'll go and if not I'll stay home. Thoughts?

Edit: I believe they actually arrived when I was up ~$2000 right after the actual indicated point.

Well, I just finished off my worst session ever (I think). Was down about $5,300 at my peak, and was down over $5000 but I won a stack on my very last hand and ended the session down "merely" $4,825.65. The session lasted slightly over 1900 hands.

I lost two stacks where I definately definately definately should have found a fold. I lost a shitload of stacks to coinflips, bad beats, and cold decks. Some asshole regular got 4 of them which pisses me off.

Here are some of my favorites:












I don't really expect anyone but the most loyal of readers to actually look at all of those, but I basically lost a stack in a situation where I deserved no such thing in all of those. Roughly $12,000 worth of pots. Although Aba20 told me to take more responsibility for my results in poker and with that said maybe I should focus on the two stacks I can remember that I should have folded. I should beat myself up for not "winning" that $1200 by not folding those, instead of bemoaning my misfortune for losing these $12,000 worth of pots (probably only like $7000 of EV). Edit: Looking back over all these hands there is actually more bad beats and less cold decks than I remember. Only 2 hands where I got it in as a 2-1 dog or more (with QJ both times too!). All others I was 46%-85%. Probably more like $8500 in EV.

This puts my monthly earnings NEGATIVE. I am now DOWN $630.43 for the month. I really wish I had put in more hours at the beginning of the month. I've only played about 25,000 hands this month so far (aside from tournaments and silly kitchen table games with Roy and Andy). Over those hands I am up $3,200, and I've ran pretty badly. Many people get in 100k (or more) hands a month. If I did that, this last session wouldn't really be so devastating. Mathematically I'd be up $12,800 and that's if I continued to run like ass like I have so far this month. Luckily January treated me very well and this session's loss is < 15% of my bankroll, but fuck it still sucks.

My tentative plan is to probably spend tommorow watching a lot of cardrunners videos and probably not take the day off, and throw in a session at night. If I'm feeling kinda shitty though I just won't play at all tommorow. Hopefully I can knock out at least a $5000 profit for the month grinding for this last week., but that is pretty ambitious the way I am running.

Hopefully I can have a successful trip at Turning Stone (not bloody likely, haven't had one of those since January of '06) and really grind for a very solid amount of hands (75k+) for the rest of the month to turn this funk/year around.
