I give you the "tilt free card play" -- to be used for sucking out cheaply:

PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with [Ks], [4s].
2 folds, MP1 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) [7s], [2d], [4h] (5 players)
SB checks, BB bets, MP1 calls, Hero raises, CO folds, SB folds, BB calls, MP1 calls.

Turn: (5.50 BB) [3s] (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, Hero checks.

River: (5.50 BB) [As] (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, BB folds, MP1 3-bets, Hero caps, MP1 calls.

Final Pot: 13.50 BB

Results in white below:
MP1 has 7d 7h (three of a kind, sevens).
Hero has Ks 4s (flush, ace high).
Outcome: Hero wins 13.50 BB.

Actually, had he not waited till the turn to CR me, hed have taken down the pot, because i never wouldve stuck around for the river if i hadnt been in so deeply.

So anyway i just thought id add my own move-Together, me and norton got some good moves for all the newbies to learn from, dont we??

Okay, beat this one! Lemme explain my thinking, i.e. why i called on the flop; i thought it was extremely likely that the flop missed him, but i didn't wanna raise there because that'd look too much like a bluff. The plan was to either bet or raise on the turn to represent a jack. But then, BAM! I catch an undercard to make a rocking pair of 3's! At this point, I was forced to abandon my grand scheme; I thought there was a good chance my 3's were best, but couldn't really stand a 3-bet, so I just called down. You should've heard the abuse I got for my world-class muppetry on this one, lol!

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed)

Preflop: TW is BB with [5h], [3c].
6 folds, SB raises, TW calls.

Flop: (4 SB) [Js], [Kh], [Jd] (2 players)
SB bets, TW calls.

Turn: (3 BB) [3h] (2 players)
SB bets, TW calls.

River: (5 BB) [2c] (2 players)
SB bets, TW calls.

Final Pot: 7 BB

Results in white below:
SB has Tc 4s (one pair, jacks).
TW has 5h 3c (two pair, jacks and threes).
Outcome: TW wins 7 BB.

The funniest thing is that despite hands like the one above, I still have the shameless audacity to insist that my losing streaks are not my fault.

Hi all,

Been lurking for a few weeks now and decided it's time to jump in. this is my first post. So hellp BTP.

Norton, your new move...isn't it simply a classic "protect your hand" move? If not, where am I wrong?

Thanks,

Edmunds -- this is a classic free card play. I called it a new move because I did it while on tilt, and I'm rarely thinking clearly enough on tilt to attempt a free card play. :)

There's definitely merit to doing this with middle pair, an overcard, and a backdoor flush draw, but the pot probably needs to be a bit larger to make it +EV -- say 9 or 10 bets -- and being in later position where I could be more confident of being last to act on the turn (so no one behind me bets after I check) would also be nice.

The preflop limp is also not so great -- I justified it to myself because the guys behind me were fairly loose, but you really need to be closer to the button with a king rag suited to take full advantage of any king high flops.
