So I've finally taken shots at moving up (STILL AS A NIT) to 200NL. After May, I'll drop down to 50NL after my normal sessions to work on 2 tabling around 25/20 working my way up to 4 tables and then back to 200NL as a sLAG. Right now, I play 8 tables and am very happy with a 3.5-4ptbb/100 winrate (+ bonus +RB).

So, I'll use this to post lots of hands and perhaps discuss observations.

My first expeditions were while I was 6-tabling the 100s (I WAS 8 tabling the 100s, but closed 2 and added the 200s), I'd add in 2 tables of 200NL after doing some datamining and identifying some donks/lags ripe for the picking. In the first 500 hands that I did this, I was up >$600. Nihan me. Then I started adding 4 200 with 4 100 tables...after a couple days it was 6 200s and 2 100s. At this point, I figured that it'd be a lot better to just focus on 6 200 tables. Had a BAD day one day (played like crap, I'll post about it in my next post) and ran bad...and since then I've been grinding well and I'm up to 8 200s full time.

TITE! Kick some ass while being a nit in $2000NL!!! ...and playing 100tables!

Some basic stats.

So in the first 1k hands where I was being VERY selective in my tables while grinding it out on the 100s, I was +790 and 20ptbb/100...I play goot, no? Actually, I ran really hot AND never lost a pot more than 50 (of my money). This was GREAT for padding the roll to really take a solid shot.

So, the 25th was my first real session where it was primarily 200NL.

I RAN bad at the 100, and ran bad AND played bad at the 200s. Had some full blown tilt, especially at the end with this hand:

In the BB with 9h8h. Button open raises to 8 and I call. I have 190, he covers.
Flop AhTh3c. I check, he bets 9, I raise to 30, he reraises to 108. I call and open shove the 5s turn. He had A3o for flopped 2pr...guh! That was me tilting.

Ran KK into AA. I 3 bet pf, he called and CRAI'd a low flop...you're destined to lose your stack every time there. I actually play AA the same way villian did...meh!

I also WAY overplayed QQ on a J high flop...he had a set and I shouldn't have gotten stacked.

After reviewing my play on the day, I noticed that I was having trouble folding hands AND from defining my hand (to myself) so as to not put myself in difficult situations. For example, having 98 on a 976 flop, mutliway OOP and playing it too slowly. So, this was my first bad day at the 200s, the first of many, I'm sure...but at least I think that I've learned some lessons and gotten over the immediate growing pains (ie. not playing my A game only because I'm in unfamiliar ground).

Feb 27th.

This was my first FULL day of 200NL, only 6 tables.

2100 Hands, -114.

As you'll see in the graph, I only lost one hand where it was a full stack...the rest were just small/medium losses. The ones that, if you're not winning med/large pots, add up and produce a VERY bad session. Fortunately I was winning at least SOME med/large pots to nearly balance it all out.

The big loss was QQ in the sb. UTG raises, CO calls, I 3 bet to 36, UTG folds, CO reraises. I call...push a T-high flop, he calls...I even river a Q, but he had AA (and the turn was an A). THAT's a TOTAL FVCK you hand, eh? I put him on AK/TT-JJ. Meh. I could've pushed pf, but I have trouble doing that...I prefer to see flops, though putting in 80 preflop is kinda dumb since any A/K will scare me...and if he only has TT-JJ, then I'm giving him the hand when I'm a HUGE favourite.

This was a shorter session, just under 1500 hands, but a solid one. I only stopped early because I wanted to go golfing Shot +1.

This is what makes poker REALLY hard. Sure the big losing days make poker really suck, but the days when you're playing A+ and are doing generally quite well...only to have HUGE suckouts (or utter cooler hands) come at inopportune times makes for a stressful existence. This was my first LONG (nearly 5hrs of 6-7 tables...I'm up to 7...I was at 8 near the end) session at 200NL. Just under 3k hands, and effectively EVEN. Thank the poker gods for RB + Bonus! I was actually up ~230 because of them!

I had 2 cooler hands in the session and a LOT of just shitty flops/turns which caused the downswings. If I were hitting better, this could've been a very big session, but I was missing left and right and getting sucked out on...so breaking even is pretty good.

The first cooler:

KTs in the SB, UTG min raises, button calls, I call as does BB. Flop comes KT2r, check to Raiser who bets 6 into 16, button calls and I CR to 22. In retrospect, this should've been around 34. BB folds and the other call. Turn, Q of the K suit. I bet 52 into 82 (this could've been 66 or so, meh...hard to worry about someone hitting the gutter here or be on the backdoor FD). Only the UTG calls and a river K comes, I push, he calls...KQ...BALLS. Oh well. COOLER!

Next cooler was a set over set situation that I'll NEVER get away from.

66 OTB, UTG lagtard raises to 8, I call, sb calls. Flop J96r, sb leads pot (26), UTG calls, I raise to 76, BB CALLS, UTG pushes, I overpush, we're all all in...UTG has JJ...COOLER! I lose my stack here everytime...meh!

Here's a nice win. AKo OTB, UTG min raises, I raise to 12, he MIN reraises, I call. Ad3d8s, he bets pot, I call...turn Jh, he pushes, I call...he has A7. Feel free to critique this one. One of my BIG weaknesses (is it a weakness) is not wanting to commit a HUGE portion of my stack PF with AK...I'm REALLY good at reading hands and getting away from stuff, so I prefer to take flops.

You'll see that on Mar 5th (today) I 4 bet all iln with AKs when a blind 3 bet me HUGE...so I CAN do it...I just prefer not to

Played the 2/5 live game...made ~600...gg me. I won't post live stuff.

Mar 4:

Took the 3rd off because I play the live game late. I PLANNED on playing a session, but I got to bed SO late (and won) that I just couldn't do it...so I went golfing instead.

This was a VERY short session. I kinda wanted to go golfing anyway, but knew I needed to put in a session. I was up a bunch fairly early, so I booked the win and went golfing...played like SHIT, but still enjoyed myself.

No losses >50, and a couple nice wins.

I have NO idea what villian had in this hand (HH didn't show his cards). J9s in the BB, MP limps, BTN raises to 6, I call, MP calls. Flop, 753s - I flop the flush. I check...NORMALLY I lead here. MP checks, BTN bets 12 into 19, I CR to 32, he calls. Turn Jd, I lead 68 into 83. He calls...HUH? Sounds like an overpair...perhaps KK/QQ with the spade, perhaps. River 2c, I push he calls and mucks...nihan me.

Another one:
JJ UTG and I raise to 8, both blinds call. Flop 622 2tone...this is the uber PERFECT flop for an overpair, or even overcards. I fire 15 into 24. SB sLAG uber AGRO tard CR's to 45 and I know he's completely full of shit. There's no way he does this with a 2, he'd CR the turn...and he doesn't do something so stupid with 66. So I call planning to stack off no matter what comes. It's an offsuit K, he pushes and I instacall...he has JcTc no pair, just the flop flush draw, nice read BK! ship it.

Last one:
Wasn't for a full stack, just over half. Red 66 OTB, CO min raises, I call, a blind calls. 862r, BB checks, CO leads 10 with 74 behind (no reason for me to raise an utterly dry board), I call...BB CR's to 26.50, donk CO MINRAISES to 43, and I raise to 93. This raise puts CO in and lets BB (who has a full stack) in perhaps...I don't really want to push him out, but I can't just call the raises...I need to raise myself. And anything other than something of this size screams monster...so my raise COULD look like I'm trying to isolate, without being so big as to really shut out BB. But, he folds and CO calls with Q8s...nihan donk.

Mar 5 (today).

This was an annoying, then GREAT session. It started off normal enough, then within about 20 hands 2 UTTER suckouts (sorta...one was huge, the other coinflip but he was a donk for being in there) in a row for full stacks put me in a bad mood and way in the hole. However, my A+ game was always on AND I beautifully controlled tilt - nihan me. I grinded it back really well and booked an excellent session.

Just over 3k hands, around +800 +rb+bonus.

The two stupid hands. KK vs 99 all in pf (I 3 bet the button open raise from the BB, he 4 bet pushed, I called...KK<99, news to me!). I made sure to get on ALL of this guy's tables...I got some revenge . The second, I was OTB AKs, open raise, got 3 bet to fuggin 98! I pushed (he had 214 to start)...little bugger CALLED with 88!!!! AKs<88. This isn't really a 'bad beat' but it is since he was a stupid donk for even calling...if he had half a brain he 1: wouldn't have made such a gross 3 bet and 2: would've realized that my range is MILES ahead of 88. Meh!

A whole bunch of sets and well played overpairs later, and I not only grinded back to EVEN, but to a very tidy win!
