Sooooo.... I'm kinda bored, and maybe people want to hear bout my poker exploits. Maybe not, here it is anyway. I was kinda inspired by Xaston and his lol running bad. I figured if people want to read about something as silly as someone running bad at poker, then I must be madly entertaining.
Thursday night I lost the biggest pot I've ever lost. 10/20 NL on bodog, donk had been overshoving on me all night, and I finally got a chance to take advantage. Donk opens to 100, one caller, I make it 450 from small blind with AA, donk shoves. Oh, and we're a bit over 5k deep. I obv call, he has KK, flop AT4 with 2 hearts. Turn Qh, river random heart that I have blocked out of my memory. He has Kh. Grats to him. Such is life.
I went to red rock for a while tonight, mostly cause a few buddies were there, Andy and Victor. We had a barbeque earlier and I was somewhat tipsy, but who gives a shit, it's 1/2. Sooooo first hand of interest I check 83o in the big blind with 3 limpers. Flop is A34 with 2 hearts, I'm all clubs, but hey, why not, I lead 10. Random bum calls, others fold, it's heads up. Turn is an 8 putting 2 hearts and 2 diamonds on board, I check, he bets 30, I make it 100. He has 70 left after calling the 100 and of course calls cause it's random 1/2 donk. River is a blank and I shove, and of course he pays me off with AK. Wow nice play sir. Of course he bitches about me playing 83o. Lollerskates.
The other hand of interest.... Victor limps, a few others limp, I make it 12 with 66 on the puck. One or two guys might have called, can't really remember, and Victor calls. Flop is 6-4-3 all hearts. He leads 25 and I have a decision. Effective stacks about 300, and I elect to just call. He's a good player but he doesn't really know how I roll at this point, so I didn't want to get it in quite yet. Turn is an offsuit 5 and he leads again, 50 or something. At this point I know I'm ahead, , he doesn't have the straight, but he has zero chance of calling if I raise, so I get wild and just call. River is a 3 so I boat up, he bets and I shove, he insta mucks. No big surprise, but I think I played the hand well. I don't think he pays me off even if I shove the turn. I actually liked the image boost just from the river shove. It could come in handy, but I left before it could pay off.
Of course, I couldn't start a journal without the hardest hand I've ever played. It's a 15/30 limit game. I limp UTG+1 with KQ spades.. Folded to the button who is the only other good player at the table, he raises. Blinds fold, I call and I'm not happy. Flop is KJT rainbow with one spade. I bet, he calls. Turn is a 4 or something like that completes the rainbow. I check, he bets, I call. River is a 9. I put him on KK, JJ, TT, AQ, AA.. I also know that he will value bet a set, but not AA. Also he won't pay off a checkraise with worse than a queen. He may or may not pay off the river with a set. He will value bet a set here though if I check. What is the correct river play for me here?
Oh,and just for the record, I've never presented this hand to anyone who got the answer right.
Til next time,
Lee
