Played poker last Saturday at a friend's house against all of the bad players, although I am discovering one or two that aren't too bad. Played pretty well, raising and hitting a couple of cards, rarely putting anyone all in though...mostly winning raised pots with CB's. Had one hand that I think I overplayed. .50/1 blinds, girl in EP raises to $6, called by a decent player(villain) two to my right, I call with TT, two more calls behind. Flop came AT3 rainbow. BB checks, girl checks, and Villain bets out $16 into the pot of $36. He has about $120 left at this point, and I have him covered. I'm next to act, and I decide to raise in $40 more to 56 which in retrospect, I don't really like...there aren't many draws on this board, and I probably want someone behind to come along with me here which would be nice...everyone folds and Villain take about two minutes and lays down AK. If it had been any other player, I think I would have been paid off. Pretty depressing that I played it so fast, but in this group I didn't really know people were able to lay down pretty good hands...I would have taken over half the stacks, I'm pretty sure. I won $109 in about 4 hours of play after donking off $13 to my friend Q on one hand, thought he had only ace high on a flop of Q55 rainbow, and so I called with my AK...and I was right, but he had A5 which was sick...I was getting 3-1 but I think it was a donkish play even with the read.
Monday night I decided to go to Lucky Chances and play a little. Took about 30 minutes to sit down, but once I did, I won my first hand against a shortie with my AJ when I hit top pair...I called his push of $16 in, and so did four others. I bet $30 on the flop into the empty sidepot, and no one called, and I won a nice pot right off the bat. Then, I had black 99 and limped in MP(not a big fan of raising this hand because people never fold, especially at this table where there was about 5 CS's). Seven to the the flop. Flop came
. I bet $16 into the pot of $28, guy to my left folded, and the next guy mad it $40 total. Another fold and the button went all in for about $98. I thought about it for twenty seconds and figured this:
-if they both have flushes(or combination of straight/flush) I've a better chance to hit my full house
-most of the hands I've seen shown down during all ins at this table have been way weaker than the hand I have
-if I push, I might be able to isolate the all-in guy
-my opponents are pretty bad and wil raise and push with crappy hands/draws
Figured it was the best move to just push right there, so I pushed another $140 on top of the $82 more I had to call. The flop raiser to my left folded. Turn came
, river
, and the allin guy flipped over
. Man, these guys are bad, SFobv. I then proceeded to give about $100 to one player who sat down later because 1) I suck at playing people who suck alot STILL 2) this guy played about 90% of his hands, and called ever preflop raise, and still managed to win about $400. I just wanted to get to showdown with this guy so bad and take his money. One chance I got was when I raised to $16 UTG with red queens, guy to my left(bad player) called with JT, and this idiot min reraises me preflop to $32. I have $300 left at the time, and was thinking, J high flop and I am pushing because this guy probably has nothing...that was my read. Flop comes, AA6, I check, bad player checks, and idiot bets something horrible like $15 in the $100 pot, and I just give it up...after about 20 more hands, this guy left sadly, and so did I. Won $121 in about 4 hrs.
Going to Tahoe this weekend...hopefully the games up there will be soft and filled with CS's...
