KAAAAAAAAAA MOTHERFUCKERRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Call me when you get here... I'll take you to a bunch of places...

MGMs 1/2 game is a $200 max... Like 80% of the casinos on the strip have a $300-no cap structure...

It's been a while since I wrote this...paid some taxes since then($375 and I didn't work this year, go figure), been to Vegas...the Luxor sucks beyond belief, never stay there. I can't name one good thing about that hotel except I ran in Chris Angel who was on the same floor as us( he lives there, I guess). Made my buddy's trip to get a pic with him at least.

I've been neglecting to post the hands I remembered because I lost my hard copy of them, so I will have to do them from memory...boy, I'm a spewboy at NL, at least it felt like it sometimes...going to post links to them from the NL forum because I want responses.

Hand against young kid that I felt I played horribly:
forum/viewtopic.php?p=227363#227363

Hand against pretty bad player while I was in position:
forum/viewtopic.php?p=227364#227364

Other hands of the trip were mostly me winning, but I have to avoid the tables next time because they made the trip really really painful. I was a small winner at poker and a big big loser at the table games...that's what I get for going with nonpoker buddies...big mistake.

Other hands: I called a raise with 65h in the SB, and the flop came QQJ two hearts, and I checkraise the preflop raiser, and he pushed. I think it was neutral EV to call, and I did, but I missed and his monster AQ held up. I hit a set of 4's on a flop of K84 rainbow and bet out into eight other players...my buddy called my bet of $20, and the button raises all in, and I decided to save my buddy some money and reraised...he still took about a minute to fold his crappy King; next time I reel him in I told him. :) Flopped another set when I raised one hand, and someone called all my bets until I pushed the river and double up off of him. Mostly alot of folding though as I was trying to get comfortable playing NL live...still in my own head sometimes, rather than analyzing the situations I am in. All in all, had alot of fun at the poker rooms there...highly recommend the MGM, Ceasars, and also recommend you completely avoid the Luxor for everything poker.

Played poker last Saturday at a friend's house against all of the bad players, although I am discovering one or two that aren't too bad. Played pretty well, raising and hitting a couple of cards, rarely putting anyone all in though...mostly winning raised pots with CB's. Had one hand that I think I overplayed. .50/1 blinds, girl in EP raises to $6, called by a decent player(villain) two to my right, I call with TT, two more calls behind. Flop came AT3 rainbow. BB checks, girl checks, and Villain bets out $16 into the pot of $36. He has about $120 left at this point, and I have him covered. I'm next to act, and I decide to raise in $40 more to 56 which in retrospect, I don't really like...there aren't many draws on this board, and I probably want someone behind to come along with me here which would be nice...everyone folds and Villain take about two minutes and lays down AK. If it had been any other player, I think I would have been paid off. Pretty depressing that I played it so fast, but in this group I didn't really know people were able to lay down pretty good hands...I would have taken over half the stacks, I'm pretty sure. I won $109 in about 4 hours of play after donking off $13 to my friend Q on one hand, thought he had only ace high on a flop of Q55 rainbow, and so I called with my AK...and I was right, but he had A5 which was sick...I was getting 3-1 but I think it was a donkish play even with the read.

Monday night I decided to go to Lucky Chances and play a little. Took about 30 minutes to sit down, but once I did, I won my first hand against a shortie with my AJ when I hit top pair...I called his push of $16 in, and so did four others. I bet $30 on the flop into the empty sidepot, and no one called, and I won a nice pot right off the bat. Then, I had black 99 and limped in MP(not a big fan of raising this hand because people never fold, especially at this table where there was about 5 CS's). Seven to the the flop. Flop came [9d] [6d] [5d]. I bet $16 into the pot of $28, guy to my left folded, and the next guy mad it $40 total. Another fold and the button went all in for about $98. I thought about it for twenty seconds and figured this:

-if they both have flushes(or combination of straight/flush) I've a better chance to hit my full house
-most of the hands I've seen shown down during all ins at this table have been way weaker than the hand I have
-if I push, I might be able to isolate the all-in guy
-my opponents are pretty bad and wil raise and push with crappy hands/draws

Figured it was the best move to just push right there, so I pushed another $140 on top of the $82 more I had to call. The flop raiser to my left folded. Turn came [2c], river [Ah], and the allin guy flipped over [Ac] [Kd]. Man, these guys are bad, SFobv. I then proceeded to give about $100 to one player who sat down later because 1) I suck at playing people who suck alot STILL 2) this guy played about 90% of his hands, and called ever preflop raise, and still managed to win about $400. I just wanted to get to showdown with this guy so bad and take his money. One chance I got was when I raised to $16 UTG with red queens, guy to my left(bad player) called with JT, and this idiot min reraises me preflop to $32. I have $300 left at the time, and was thinking, J high flop and I am pushing because this guy probably has nothing...that was my read. Flop comes, AA6, I check, bad player checks, and idiot bets something horrible like $15 in the $100 pot, and I just give it up...after about 20 more hands, this guy left sadly, and so did I. Won $121 in about 4 hrs.

Going to Tahoe this weekend...hopefully the games up there will be soft and filled with CS's...

Played at Lucky Chances again at the 1/2 200 max NL game, lost $98 by basically winning two tiny pots, and putting one idiot and one very tight player all in, although I think I could have folded the hand...didn't think about it until afterwards. Here is the hand:

UTG(Villain 1) limps, UTG+1 limps(Villain 2),fold, another limper to me, I limp with [9c] [6c], folds to the SB who completes and BB completes as well ($4 bring-in). Pot is $24.
Flop is [8s] [6h] [6d]. Blinds check and Villain 1bets about $40 and has about $50 left. Villian 2 calls $40, has about $40 left. The next guy also calls the $40...he's a complete idiot who I have very little read on except when he has something it's unbelievably obvious(still didn't stop him from doubling up fifth hand at the table). Anyway, Villain 1 has been playing alot, limping mostly, calling raises from alot of people, and generally throwing money away, betting paired boards with underpairs a few times already. Villain two has been playing nitty, folded 88 to a raise when no one else came in and showed, and wasn't getting involved without a good hand usually, and would lay down hands most people at this casino would go crazy with. Anyway, all I could think about was the fact that I wanted to take Villain 1's money and get the guy the money in the pot at the time, so I pushed it all in, knowing Villain 1 was going to call...and hence the problem. I didn't take into account Villain 2 enough here and try to figure out why he smoothcalled in this spot for half his chips when getting a chip out of him was really really difficult. I think I could have laid down this hand, and I think it was actually my first instinct to lay it down too, but I got greedy and saw all the money in the pot, so I went aggro. Villain 1 and Villain 2 both called the all-in, the other guy bowed out, turn and river were KK, and I flipped up my hand, and Villain 1 had nothing and mucked, and Villain 2 won the side pot with 88, full house on the flop...yeah me and my side pot of $20.

Taking time to think at the table and thinking something useful as it relates to the hand...these things are not mutually exclusive, although sometimes for me, they are. Then, without the pressure, I can think through the clues and realize, yep, I should have folded that. I want that answer at the table...and so I need to practice more. I'll be back there tomorrow.

At least the Warriors made the playoffs. All they have to do now is defeat the Maverics, the Spurs, and then the Suns and take down the weak Eastern conference team and they win the title. Easy peasy!
