Just finished up a session and oddly enough, kinda similar hand to the one we were debating. 1 limper, I make it 90 with AKs, SB who starts the hand with 1200 min raises. I just shove, he calls with JJ, king on the flop and ship it. Kind of a debatable call since I'm never shoving worse pairs than jacks, but I'll take it.
Played a hand that sorta got my noodle working. I open to 70 UTG at a 9 handed table with AT of clubs. Solid player calls in the CO, solid guy in SB calls, horrible fish guy in BB calls. Pot 290 to the flop. I started with about 2k, horrible guy started with 1600, both solid guys have a bit over 3k.
Flop is 8c-7c-4x. Blinds check and I bet 200. It's kind of a small bet, but I wanted to 3 bet all in if one of the solid guys raised and still have some fold equity. If I pot there and they make it like 850ish then they call a lot more if I shove instead of if they only make it 600 or 650. Probably a minor difference, might not even matter, but that was my thought.
Anyway, solid CO calls and BB calls. So we have 890 in the pot going into the turn and it's the beautiful Jc. BB checks, I check, CO checks. Disappointing. I know check is probably not the best play in a vacuum, but I think my hand becomes too transparent if I bet. Also I'm checking this turn with a lot of holdings so I want to show that I check with the nuts too. On top of all that, I think solid CO guy bets here a good bit given his range and BB fish guy calls a lot.
River is an offsuit queen, BB leads 330 or something silly. I actually thought he had made a smaller flush on the turn and tried to checkraise but failed. It kinda looks like he just wants to get paid as I think he thinks that neither of us have much although I don't think that's the case most of the time at all. Anyway, I just shove and he calls with T9o for a straight. He didn't reload. =(
All but one table got down to 3 handed or heads up with the best regular on the site sitting so I just shut it down. The other guy at the three handed table is pretty horrible which almost tempted me to stay, but he's horrible in that he open limps in late position and then folds to a raise literally 95% of the time. No exaggeration. I was sitting directly to his left on 2 tables today and I raised him every single time and he never once called. Easy to pick up 20 bucks at a time from him, hard to get any real money out of him.
Still a good session overall, and so far this is my best week ever. Up about 14k the last two days alone. Bodog reintroduced some echeck deposit thing and all the old live ones came back along with plenty of new ones. I hope it keeps going all week, and hell, all year.
