Alright I've been pretty lazy about posting in my journal, but I'm going to get it caught up over the next couple of days. Additionally, I had quite a losing streak and was admittedly embarassed to post my results from two weeks ago. That's a pretty chicken sh!t way to act so I've since changed my mind and decided to post the results for that week.

Sunday May 2nd:

This was my most volatile session ever. At one point I was down as much as $750, however I battled back for several hours on end to finish down only $150 for the day. Poor play accounted for about $200 of the loss, while several bad beats canceled out the few big wins I managed. For instance I lost w/ Aces to J3s when the guy flopped a flush draw and a pair (the 3) and then chased to the river where he caught a Jack for two pair.

2,965 Hands x -2.52PTBB/HH = -$149 (VP$IP = 23.14, PFR% = 7.22%, PFA = 2.89)

Moron move of the day:

This was shortly after one of the bad beats I took and a clear example of tilt.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed)

MP ($119.6)
DaHittDogg ($88)
SB ($187.9)
BB ($182.63)
UTG ($102.2)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is Button with [Th], [8h]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
2 folds, DaHittDogg raises to $4, SB (poster) calls $3.50, 1 fold.

Flop: ($9) [5d], [4s], [Jc] (2 players)
SB checks, DaHittDogg bets $8, SB calls $8.

Turn: ($25) [9d] (2 players)
SB bets $1, DaHittDogg raises to $20, SB calls $19.

River: ($65) [Ah] (2 players)
SB checks, DaHittDogg calls $56 (All-In), SB calls $56.

Final Pot: $177

Results in white below:
DaHittDogg has Th 8h (high card, ace).
SB has Jd Ad (two pair, aces and jacks).
Outcome: SB wins $177.

Raising with this hand was retarded, its not a bad hand to call with, but trying to play it from the lead was a recipe for disaster. There a few, alright a very few good spots to bluff in Party NL100 and this was definitely not one of them.

Monday May 3rd:

A much needed big win in this session following the previous nights debacle. Interesting that I posted this win with AA as my biggest loser.

2,120 Hands x 10.5 PTBB/HH = $445.72 (VP$IP = 16.70, PFR% = 5.19%, PFA = 2.09)

A little passive post flop, but I'll take a 10+BB/HH anyday. (especially when I play this many hands)

I didn't do anything too incredibly stupid on this day so we'll skip the MMoD.

May 4th:

Yummy another loser.

1,469 Hands x -4.74PTBB/HH = -$139 (VP$IP = 18.11, PFR% = 5.79%, PFA = 2.38)

Here is my biggest mistake for the day and a good example of why you shouldn't call raises w/ AQ, even in a 6-max game.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed)

BB ($163.37)
DaHittDogg ($92.3)
MP ($28.4)
Button ($358.95)
SB ($172.4)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is UTG with [Ad], [Qs]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
DaHittDogg calls $1, MP calls $1, Button raises to $4, 2 folds, DaHittDogg calls $3, MP calls $3.

Flop: ($13.50) [Ks], [As], [Qh] (3 players)
DaHittDogg bets $11, MP calls $11, Button calls $11.

Turn: ($46.50) [Jd] (3 players)
DaHittDogg bets $35, MP calls $13.40 (All-In), Button calls $35.

River: ($129.90) [9h] (3 players, 1 all-in)
DaHittDogg checks, Button bets $45, DaHittDogg calls $42.30 (All-In).

Final Pot: $217.20

DaHittDogg has Ad Qs (two pair, aces and queens).
MP has 4s Js (one pair, jacks).
Button has Ts Jh (straight, ace high).
Outcome: Button wins $217.19.

My call on the river is maybe the worst decision in the history of poker.

Another wasted effort as I could never really get anything going in this session, which makes 3 out of 4 losing sessions. The main culprit today was some misplay and just plain misses w/ AK.

May 7th:

The only good thing about this session was that I was able to lose so quickly. From reviewing the hands I really didn't play as bad as the results indicate, I just got into some tricky spots were kept having to lay down decent hands after investing $15-$30. Unfortunately I didn't have any big winners to make up for thes losses. It's hard to beleive that I could lose this much in so few hands without ever getting stacked.

838 Hands x -13.88PTBB/HH = -232 (VP$IP = 21.00, PFR = 8.59%, PFA = 4.12)

At least I was aggressive in this session.

May 8th:

This was probably the most important day in my young poker career as I finally bit the bullet and switched from 6-max to full-ring. (Thanks to Kenny for helping to convince me) As you may have noticed I'm still ironing out a few wrinkles in my game. The shorthanded game is so much more aggressive the you are constantly being put to tough decisions and I still haven't developed enough discipline to make enough big laydowns. Additionally the 6-max game is the land of the LAG, I think this is where most of the talented, i.e. winning LAGs can really dominate and I'll be honest they are the one's that usually crush me. I was a winner in this game, but I think I can do better in the full-ring game. Also it makes the hand analyses in the NL forum much more applicable to my game.

This first session went along way in convincing me I made the right decision. I absolutely crushed this game. Remembering Iceman's recommendation regarding the limp-reraise with AA & KK (something that is nearly impossible in 6-max) was my most profitable play. I was very fortunate as far as cards were concerned in this session. I had pocket Aces 13 times in only 1,500 hands which is roughly double the expected amount. Given the week I had, I think I deserved it.

1,528 Hands x 18.39PTBB/HH = $561 (VP$IP = 15.12, PFR% = 5.10, PFA = 2.80)

More of the same as I had another good day at the full ring tables.

1,450 Hands x 11.41PTBB/HH = $330 (VP$IP = 15.59, PFR% = 3.66, PFA = 2.18)

I got stacked for one time when my set of ducks was up against a set of treys, but other than that this session was smooth sailing.

And baby makes three! Third full-ring session, third win. Although this one came at a much lower win rate.

1,580 Hands x 5.27PTBB/HH = $166 (VP$IP = 18.35, PFR% = 3.42, PFA = 3.00)

I did have one pretty bad play during this session that cost me about $93 and prevented this session from being a bigger win.

My moron move of the day:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

MP1 ($170.48)
DaHittDogg ($200.6)
MP3 ($59.59)
CO ($93.5)
Button ($99.45)
SB ($50.05)
BB ($193.5)
UTG ($230.4)
UTG+1 ($104.35)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is MP2 with [9s], [As]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
UTG calls $1, 1 fold, MP1 calls $1, DaHittDogg calls $1, 1 fold, CO calls $1, 1 fold, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($6) [5d], [Ts], [4s] (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 bets $4, DaHittDogg calls $4, CO raises to $18, SB folds, BB folds, UTG folds, MP1 folds, DaHittDogg calls $14.

Turn: ($46) [Ad] (2 players)
DaHittDogg checks, CO bets $35, DaHittDogg calls $181.60 (All-In), CO calls $39.50 (All-In).

River: ($302.10) [3c] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $302.10

DaHittDogg has 9s As (one pair, aces).
CO has 5c 5h (three of a kind, fives).
Outcome: CO wins $195.

This was a case of over aggression. The flop call was fine, but I should have respected my opponents read that I was on a flush draw and folded accordingly. I got overly excited when the Ace hit and I thought I had him beat there. This was stupid considering how much he raised on the flop. I should have known he was holding a set (or AT at least) and was not going to fold. Given the conditions I had really very little folding equity with my turn check raise so my odds (both pot and implied) were crap.

I should have stayed away from the tables on this day. I was very tired and very irritable. This is the worst state of mind for me to play in because I get frustrated and tend to tilt when things don't go my way. I honestly think I would play better if I was drunk rather than tired. Thankfully I realized this and quit before I did any more damage.

421 Hands x -31.90PTBB/HH = -260 (VP$IP = 17.81, PFR% = 1.43, PFA = 2.00)
* -30BB had to be some sort of dubious record
* As you can see I was much more passive than usual. From reviewing the hands I turned into a calling station for several hands.

Here is my moron move of the day. This was just a horrible call because I was thinking to myself that my opponent was probably holding exactly what he ended up showing. This call was exemplified how being tired affected my play, as I wouldn't normally make this call unless I was against a known/habitual bluffer.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

DaHittDogg ($96.5)
CO ($98.6)
Button ($60.95)
SB ($107.7)
BB ($90.22)
UTG ($111.3)
UTG+1 ($134.7)
MP1 ($218.1)
MP2 ($96)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is MP3 with [Ad], [Kc]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
2 folds, MP1 raises to $3, 1 fold, DaHittDogg raises to $8, 3 folds, BB calls $7, MP1 calls $5.

Flop: ($24.50) [4s], [Kd], [Ts] (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, DaHittDogg bets $19, BB calls $82.22 (All-In), MP1 folds, DaHittDogg calls $63.22.

Turn: ($188.94) [4h] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($188.94) [3c] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $188.94

BB has Td Kh (two pair, kings and tens).
DaHittDogg has Ad Kc (two pair, kings and fours).
Outcome: BB wins $188.94.

Bad, bad, bad. I proceeded to tilt after this for about thrity minutes before quitting for the day.

May 15th:

I guess I've had worse days, but this was a little disappointing b/c I played a long session and had little to show for it.

1,325 Hands x -3.21PTBB/HH -$83 (VP$IP = 21.51, PFR% = 4.83, PFA = 2.88)

I was fairly loose today at over 20%.

I really only made one horrible play today, but it did cost me a bundle. Moron move of the day-->

Party Poker Pot-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

BB ($66.85)
UTG ($79)
UTG+1 ($56.21)
MP1 ($99)
MP2 ($18.05)
MP3 ($196.8)
DaHittDogg ($173.9)
Button ($199)
SB ($99)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is CO with [4s], [As]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
3 folds, MP2 calls $1, MP3 calls $1, DaHittDogg calls $1, 2 folds, BB raises to $4.5, MP2 calls $4.50, MP3 calls $4.50, DaHittDogg calls $4.50.

Flop: ($22.50) [2s], [Ah], [6h] (4 players)
BB checks, MP2 checks, MP3 checks, DaHittDogg bets $18, BB calls $18, MP2 calls $12.55 (All-In), MP3 folds.

Turn: ($71.05) [Qs] (3 players, 1 all-in)
BB checks, DaHittDogg checks.

River: ($71.05) [5d] (3 players, 1 all-in)
BB calls $43.35 (All-In), DaHittDogg calls $43.35.

Final Pot: $157.75

Results in white below:
BB has 6d 6s (three of a kind, sixes).
MP2 has Td Ac (one pair, aces).
DaHittDogg has 4s As (one pair, aces).
Outcome: BB wins $157.75.

I still can't believe that my opponent raised with what he did, but nonetheless I should not have been in the hand to begin with and I should have smelled trouble when that big of a pot was checked around to me on the flop. The call on the end was horrible too.

Back on the winning track today. I managed a pretty nice win despite two very painful bad beats and one bad misplay on my part. I try not to complain too much about bad beats, but these two were in huge pots.

Bad beat #1

Okay, to set this up my opponent had raised exactly ZERO times in the 100+ hands I had played with him. When he raised I immediately put him on a Aces or Kings. He was very tight and very aggressive after the flop in the few pots he played.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

MP1 ($97.5)
MP2 ($402.33)
MP3 ($59)
DaHittDogg ($99)
Button ($97.5)
SB ($105.05)
BB ($195.6)
UTG ($102.5)
UTG+1 ($96)
UTG+2 ($83)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is CO with [9s], [7s]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
4 folds, MP2 raises to $4, 1 fold, DaHittDogg calls $4, 2 folds, BB calls $3.

Flop: ($12.50) [6c], [7h], [9d] (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 bets $8, DaHittDogg raises to $24, BB folds, MP2 raises to $40, DaHittDogg raises to $75, MP2 raises to $110, DaHittDogg calls $20 (All-In).

Turn: ($217.50) [6s] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($217.50) [2c] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $217.50

MP2 has Kh Kd (two pair, kings and sixes).
DaHittDogg has 9s 7s (two pair, nines and sevens).
Outcome: MP2 wins $217.50.

As a 2.66 to 1 dog it wasn't like he won the lottery or anything, but it just stung b/c I had such a perfect read on him. (not to mention the $200 swing)

Bad Beat #2

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

MP2 ($132.75)
MP3 ($94.58)
CO ($199.85)
Button ($109.85)
SB ($113.4)
BB ($58.5)
UTG ($122.55)
UTG+1 ($96)
DaHittDogg ($122.82)
MP1 ($64.45)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is UTG+2 with [Ts], [8s]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
2 folds, DaHittDogg calls $1, 2 folds, MP3 calls $1, CO raises to $5, 1 fold, SB (poster) calls $4.50, 1 fold, DaHittDogg calls $4, MP3 calls $4.

Flop: ($21) [Th], [8h], [8d] (4 players)
SB checks, DaHittDogg checks, MP3 checks, CO bets $10, SB folds, DaHittDogg calls $10, MP3 raises to $20, CO calls $10, DaHittDogg raises to $50, MP3 calls $30, CO calls $30.

Turn: ($171) [9c] (3 players)
DaHittDogg calls $67.82 (All-In), MP3 calls $39.58 (All-In), CO folds.

River: ($278.40) [Ks] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $278.40

DaHittDogg has Ts 8s (full house, eights full of tens).
MP3 has Kd 8c (full house, eights full of kings).
Outcome: MP3 wins $250.16.

This is probably the most painful beat I have ever taken b/c it was a three way pot and I was a mere 15.5 to 1 favorite on the turn. I don't think anymore explanation is necessary.

Of course no day would be complete without some losses created by my own bad play. Moron move of the day-->

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (8 handed)

CO ($81.35)
Button ($110.95)
SB ($98.45)
BB ($140.05)
DaHittDogg ($147.08)
UTG+1 ($136)
MP1 ($118.75)
MP2 ($98)

Preflop: DaHittDogg is UTG with [Ac], [Ah]. SB posts a blind of $0.5.
DaHittDogg calls $1, UTG+1 calls $1, 4 folds, SB (poster) raises to $3.5, 1 fold, DaHittDogg calls $3, UTG+1 calls $3.

Flop: ($13) [3c], [Jd], [9s] (3 players)
SB bets $6, DaHittDogg calls $6, UTG+1 calls $6.

Turn: ($31) [7s] (3 players)
SB bets $25, DaHittDogg raises to $60, UTG+1 calls $60, SB calls $63.45 (All-In), DaHittDogg calls $28.45, UTG+1 calls $28.45.

River: ($296.35) [6h] (3 players, 1 all-in)
DaHittDogg checks, UTG+1 checks.

Final Pot: $296.35

SB has Kd Kc (one pair, kings).
DaHittDogg has Ac Ah (one pair, aces).
UTG+1 has 9h 9c (three of a kind, nines).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins $296.35.

Going for the limp reraise is fine, but I am not sure why I didn't go ahead and reraise as planned. Calling on the flop was pretty dumb too. Considering I let 2 opponents see the flop and turn I shouldn't have raised on the turn and just tried to keep the pot small.

Results for the day -amazingly I still won a decent amount:

This session was awesome. I had some good situation arise early in the session which I capitalized on and then quit for the day.

623 Hands x 22.78 PTBB/HH = $283 (VP$IP = 17.82, PFR% = 4.82, PFA = 2.45)

No moron moves today as the biggest pot I lost was $27. :)
