Foxwoods trip report:
Kara and I left at like 8 PM or so on Sunday. The entire car ride all Kara did was talk about how madly in love with Brian she is, and how perfect he is in every single way. Some of them were really stretches. One of his pros, apparently, is that he too gets in a lot of serious car accidents. I haven't had a girlfriend in longer than I remember and it wasn't fun hearing her blab on and on and on about how happy she is with this new retard who is clearly not going to be around in 6 months. But I digress.
We arrived at like 10 PM or some shit and checked into our rooms and got some room service. I watched the Red Sox sweep the Yankees. Back to back to back to back home runs. Noooo problem.
I end up falling asleep after the game for a little bit and wake up at like 2:30 AM and look at my phone. All of the Umass Dartmouth poker gang is in the poker room and I finally go in. I asked the guard at the edge of the casino if he wanted to check my ID as I walked in. He shook his head no
.
The poker room is like in the basement, but it is quite large and pretty nice. It's now Monday at like 3 AM so it's no terribly busy but that's ok.
The biggest game running is a semi shorthanded $5/$10 game with a $500 min and $2000 max. Sounds good. I buyin for $2000 and soon see that the gentlemen on my right has limped in UTG with Q6o. LOL. The two guys on my right were limping in to over 85% of the pots.
There was VERY little pre-flop raising done at the table. Lots of limping though, lots.
I never really played any very big or interesting pots. I missed a double gutshot + flush draw after calling $500 on the turn which destroyed basically all of my profits for up until then.
The game broke down to 3 handed with the guy on my right who was limptastic and the asian gentlemen on my left who was actually sort of ok.
Eventually the asian guy left and the other guy had no problem playing me HU. I slowly ground out about a $700 win from him HU. The whole time he was talking about how the HU match was pointless and nobody was gaining anything and it was just going back and forth. I was very quietly running him over. Occasionally he would show me a bluff in an attempt to rattle me or something. I dunno but I bluffed him out of 238 pots but didn't show any of em.
After playing HU for maybe an hour and a half or so he decided to call it quits and go play a $2/$5 game so I decided enough is enough.
The best hand I got the entire time (not just HU match) was QQ. I won $10 with it. The second best hand I got was AQs. I won $20 with it. I think I got 99 once as well. Seriously. I was very very card dead.
I racked up and cashed out $3320 (I never reloaded).
Sad side story:
There is apparently a guy who is almost always in the poker room, who even sleeps there a lot. Anyways he sat behind me and watched me play for the entire like 5 and a half hours and when I finally went to cash out, with humbled shame in his voice, asked me if I could stake him in the $1/$2 game. I kind of figured this was coming and tried to avoid eye contact and told him that I could not. Earlier in the day he had mentioned having a son. WEHp9wegrpweartgwert[.
I went back to the room and talked to Kara and we checked out and went to the pool/jacuzzi for about 2 hours and chatted and relaxed. She had a lot of fun and wants to do this regularly.
Overall thoughts:
The game on Monday morning from 3 AM - 8 AM was quite juicy. I can only imagine what it's like on Friday and Saturday nights. I quite like live play as I really can get a feel for how everyone is playing since I'm not 9 tabling. I can really pinpoint their weaknesses and adjust accordingly to best exploit them. And I absolutely love having the option to tank for two minutes on a tough river decision. I think I will possibly try to go every weekend and play 1 long session Friday night and 1 on Saturday night. At this point I will return him in time for the Sunday Million, waste 13500 FPPs, and go directly to sleep without passing go or collecting $200. I'm gonna have to go a few more times and see how I play with varying amounts of sleep before I figure out what I really want to do, but that's my current plan.
Short online poker vent:
This month I have seriously ran worse than I can ever remember running for so many hands. EVERYBODY has taken really bad beats and coolers and all of that so I'll try not to bore you with too many, but these two (from today) were pretty priceless.
Here are my $2/$4 for April.
For comparison, here are my $2/$4 stats for the month of March.
I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like my actual winrate in that game is 13.20. I think its probably about 7 though. You can see that all of my stats are virtually identical, except for Won $ at SD %, where I am over 3% worse this month. Gross. But that does mean I probably am not playing significantly worse than I was last month, which is a psychological plus. I've also ran bad in HU SnGs, triple draw, $3/$6 NL, and $5/$10 NL this month. Blah.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.
