First 2K hands of the month update. I am up $20.00

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee are the champions my friiiiiiiiiiennd. bom bom bom bom ... and weeeeeee'le keep on fighting .... til the end ... do do do ... do

(I'm a little whimsical right now.)

Some of my favorite hands include not catching a 20-outer for stack with 2 cards to come ... getting a guy to shove all-in with 1 pair and then having him set on the river ... and of course having my own aces set on the river against a made hand. Ahhh ... good times. Not sure why I bother playing a strategy when all the money is made and lost on suckouts. :)

I had just finished typing my last post (notice the 7 minute timestamp difference) when this little gem came up. Made my day. :) The 2 guys I was in the pot with were both complete lagtards (PFR of up to 60%) ... sitting next to another one as well ... I had begun to think of them as the three stooges. But anyway, given the 1 villain's river play ... I think he might have had a set of tens after all. I didn't really believe him at the time. :) I wouldn't usually play this hand preflop, but these guys were all about betting hard on 2 pair ... so I figured if I made a set than I was in good shape. How right I was. * still rubbing my hands together gleefully * ... no wait ... I mean acting poised and cool, cultivating humility and honour towards my opponents. *lol* right, whatever this time ... here's the hand:

- pokerzen sitting in seat 1 with $130.60
- Karpi sitting in seat 2 with $244.67
- lluigi111 sitting in seat 3 with $17.64
- gamm sitting in seat 4 with $146.21
- irekkrawczuk sitting in seat 5 with $26.98 [Dealer]
- WaIdemar sitting in seat 6 with $24.77

WaIdemar posted the small blind - $0.25
pokerzen posted the big blind - $0.50
** Dealing card to pokerzen: [7s] [Jh] [7c] [8h]
Karpi called - $0.50
lluigi111 called - $0.50
gamm called - $0.50
irekkrawczuk called - $0.50
WaIdemar called - $0.50

** Dealing the turn: [3d]
pokerzen checked
lluigi111 checked
gamm bet - $15.00
irekkrawczuk called - $15.00
pokerzen called - $15.00
lluigi111 folded

** Dealing the river: [7d]
pokerzen checked
gamm bet - $30.00
irekkrawczuk went all-in - $8.48
pokerzen went all-in - $112.60
gamm called - $112.60
pokerzen shows: QUADS BABY!
gamm mucks:
irekkrawczuk mucks:

pokerzen collects $290.68 and chuckles gleefully, having not dragged a 6-buyin pot in a looooong time.

EDIT: I think this hand had a lot to do with jumping my winrate from like nil ... to 14.68 PTBB/100 for the mtd. Go me. :)

I predicted a swingy day and I was right. Plus 10 buyins. Minus 10 buyins. I am even ... but what a ride. :)

On the upside ... I took a lot of really stupid beats today ... so I'm actually quite far ahead in Sklansky bucks.

:)

I tried not to but they kept calling with crap and sucking out. I might post some hands later just for shits and giggles. I think I made a mistake or 2 along the way ... but there was some definite monitor punching instances.

April sucked cause I lost about $300 overall ... and I took some money out too ... right now I've got about 1K on the site. I'd write more but I'm tired and it's bed-time.

Sorry I think I mis-wrote it a bit ... in the overall my greatest downswing was -$180 and I was up only a little bit at one point. I was just tallying up my results from PT, and saw that I had lost 10 stacks and won 10 stacks overall. It was more like lose 2 stacks ... win 1 ... lose 1/2 stack ... win a stack ... lose 2 stacks ... win 2 stacks ... that sort of thing.

Had even 2 of those losses gone the way they were *supposed* to ... I would have finished up probably a couple hundred for the day.

Looking over my plays from yesterday ... I can say that I don't think I made any *major* equity mistakes, but there were a few hands where I could have saved some money at the end probably finished + for the day. Then there were also hands like this:

- gamm sitting in seat 1 with $145.44 [Dealer]
- gutshot72 sitting in seat 2 with $48.10
- john19871 sitting in seat 3 with $104.26
- Gamisou sitting in seat 4 with $58.05
- Thomthecom sitting in seat 5 with $26.50
- pokerzen sitting in seat 6 with $44.58

gutshot72 posted the small blind - $0.25
john19871 posted the big blind - $0.50
** Dealing card to pokerzen: [As] [2h] [Td] [Ts]
Gamisou folded
Thomthecom folded
pokerzen called - $0.50
gamm called - $0.50
gutshot72 raised - $2.50
john19871 folded
pokerzen called - $2.50
gamm folded

** Dealing the flop: [Ks] [Jd] [Qc]
gutshot72 bet - $6.00
pokerzen called - $6.00

** Dealing the turn: [8c]
gutshot72 bet - $18.00
pokerzen went all-in - $36.08
gutshot72 called - $36.08

** Dealing the river: [9c]
pokerzen shows: [As] [2h] [Td] [Ts]
gutshot72 shows: [Qd] [Jc] [Tc] [6d]
gutshot72 wins $87.16 from the main pot

End of game 1362798453

Another crappy one was AAxx < AAxx. (All-in pre-flop) That made me happy. And by happy I mean unhappy. We both had 2 pair to finish as well.

On to a new day. :)

Since I've quit drinking as well, I've taken an interest in fully healing any damage that alcohol has done to my systems. (2 weeks now!) I purchased a formula from the nutrition shop which is meant to help mental acuteness. I initially went in looking for gingko biloba for this purpose, but found a blend (Organika Super IQ), which contains ginko beloba, ginseng, kola nut powder, eyebright extract, l-glutamine, and cordyceps mushroom extract. So basically what I was after plus some extra goodies. $9.00 pays for a 45 day supply so even if there is only a slight effect, it's a worthy investment given that I play a mental game for money. I'm taking caffeine mostly out of my diet so that may help as well.

Also, I stumbled across this website: http://www.lumosity.com/ ... I haven't started it yet ... but will be trying it as a warmup to playing every day ... hey it can't hurt right? :)

maaaan... i'm not going CLOSE to omaha yet.. no way... a-a... I am struggling as it is, and even though I know there are more donks at omaha tables, I don't feel confident that I wouldn't be one of them... my swings are enoguh (and to much) for me as it is...

How you keep going back into the omaha ring (and for that matter, anyone) is just WOW to me.. you gotta have nerves of steel I think... or something else of steel..

congrats...

btw. good site (lumosity) from what I have seen.. will definitely check it out..

Here's my favorite "fuck over pokerzen" hand of the day. The courteous thing for him to have done would be to catch his flush and not runner-runner me.

- HomerSexual sitting in seat 1 with $17.63
- southsider54 sitting in seat 2 with $40.21
- climax100 sitting in seat 3 with $0.00 [Sitting out]
- Horts sitting in seat 4 with $71.02
- jacetheace sitting in seat 5 with $44.15
- pokerzen sitting in seat 6 with $45.83 [Dealer]

HomerSexual posted the small blind - $0.25
southsider54 posted the big blind - $0.50
** Dealing card to pokerzen: [9d] [4h] [Kh] [Kc]
Horts raised - $1.00
jacetheace called - $1.00
pokerzen called - $1.00
HomerSexual called - $1.00
southsider54 called - $1.00

** Dealing the flop: [Kd] [7d] [8h]
HomerSexual checked
southsider54 checked
Horts checked
jacetheace checked
pokerzen bet - $5.00
HomerSexual folded
southsider54 folded
Horts raised - $20.00
jacetheace called - $20.00
pokerzen went all-in - $39.83
Horts raised - $69.66
jacetheace went all-in - $23.15

** Dealing the turn: [Qc]

** Dealing the river: [Th]
pokerzen shows: [9d] [4h] [Kh] [Kc]
Horts shows: [Jd] [Ks] [4s] [Ad]
jacetheace mucks: [Td] [2s] [Js] [9h]

Horts wins $135.81 with a straight, A-High.

Does Lumosity.com increase BB/hour?

Postby mscanlon » Fri May 04, 2007 5:30 pm

Pokerzen and RedBarracuda,
I'm intrigued by your idea of using for warm-up before playing. I play online NLHE, and I'm a founder/developer of the lumosity program. I come from a neuroscience background, and I'm looking for more ways to evaluate how much the program affects performance in everyday activities.

I hadn't thought of it before you mentioned it here, but poker success would be a great outcome measure because it is so easy to quantify. With some experienced poker player volunteers, we could run an experiment comparing average big blinds per hour before and after lumosity training. Let me know if anyone has ideas or is interested in participating in an experiment like this.
