SUCK IT JUNE!
As of today, for the first time since the 1st, I'M UP ON THE MONTH - albeit a couple hundred $$. Had that horrible 4k downtick at the beginning @ 2/4...lost about 7x more when I dropped down to 1/2, but then made a decent recovery in the middle of the month...then it was just swing city. Couldn't string wins together with just the most horrible beats in my history (and shit cards)...I had Shob sweat me and even he was shocked at how AlexMR-like I had become!
hehe, sorry alex, I find that line funny.
But, trying to grind out some hands at the end of this month to get my extra bonus to where I want it, I had a huge short session today and made a super sweet uptick that finally put me over!
Since the wedding, our finances have been under pressure again, and having an absolutely shit month (after a decent May) was really unfortunate. So, we've come to some realizations (with helpful suggestions from Shob) about BR and other money management strategies.
For ex, the way we live now is that 75% of our monthly income comes from poker (though, obv, during bad months it drops accordingly). Also, we use our CC's to buy everything - I mean everything - because we get points or a %rebate (rakeback, basically). However, we're effectively spending money I haven't made yet (which most everybody does)...BUT, it's diff because normal jobs can generally be certain that they WILL make that money whereas, obv, poker players can't really say that. So, if I go on a serious downtick, we have to immediately cut back on our spending and go super frugal until things go better - so this taxes our relationship and my mental state and just makes a bad run SO SO much worse.
The solution: it's simple, but hard to do sometimes - we're getting 3+ months ahead of ourselves. I borrowed some $$ and by living decent but not "as" nice as we'd like (but, it'll be quite nice compared to othes our age) and we're now 2 months ahead - June was effectively for August. So, for the next few months, we're going to cap our monthly spending from poker to around 2k (maybe up to 2.5k if things run good) and try to get 6 months ahead of ourselves, then I can SERIOUSLY focus on moving up again (and going to 5/10 ASAP). This way, if I have a bad run, I have however many months ahead we are to either adjust our spending by a drastically smaller increment (since the loss is spread out over much longer) AND/OR use those months to make up for it (which is the most likely outcome).
This way, I don't ever have to stress about the day-to-day swings...and even the week-to-week swings and can focus on great poker. Also, I think that I'll be able to put in WAY more hands this way since I won't be worried about booking certain wins (when I'm playing A+++ and getting hit by the deck) since I won't be worried about what will happen if I lose some/all of it back.
July:
Goal: 50k hands. 3k in bonus, and 8k from poker for >10k
