Just a quick update:

I've hitting up Cake and playing some LHE again, more than I am PLO. After a rather bland LHE session I decided to play a little PLO. Was doing okay up almost a stack, then a few missed flops or folded turns knocked me back down a bit...Then I got this bad boy

PokerStars Pot-Limit Omaha High, $0.10 BB (5 handed) from (Format: Bet The Pot)

BB ($27.65)
Hero ($21.10)
MP ($4.65)
Button ($5.85)
SB ($3.80)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Ad], [Qs], [As], [7d].
Hero raises to $0.35, MP calls $0.35, Button calls $0.35, SB calls $0.30, BB calls $0.25.

Flop: ($1.75) [Ts], [5d], [Qd] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $1.7, MP folds, Button raises to $5.5, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls $3.80.

Turn: ($12.75) [7c] (2 players)

River: ($12.75) [4s] (2 players)

Final Pot: $12.75

Results

button showed [3h] [Td] [3d] [6s] and won ($12.15) with a straight, Three to Seven

Which basically put me a lttle bit better than even... I run so goot in this game.

Either I run like absoloute dogshit or Cake is rigged against me ....Or maybe both. So far almost all my limit sessions there have licked the sweat off of the back of a camels balls. My big ace hands a missing eevry flop, my premium PP's are getting run down by rags and just so I cna tilt myself a little more I have to play the $1500 guaranteed there every few days. Here's a hand that involves an idiot I was chatting with earlier, who when the blinds were and 50/100 shoves like 1200 chips into the pot OTB when I opened the pot 3xBB with AQ (which I folded). Kinda guy who just loves to shovel chips in the middle and built up a stack getting lucky. Here's my bust out hand, once I saw his cards I knew his K would actually kill his hand so I was feeling pretty good about myself.

Hand #1214639359001277: $1,500 GUARANTEED!
Seat 1: bhollyewood (2175.00 in chips)
Seat 2: h2oboy (6029.00 in chips)
Seat 3: Stu Nodd (2825.00 in chips)
Seat 4: Kuter (2705.00 in chips)
Seat 5: tulupoff (3972.00 in chips)
Seat 6: donnydib (3272.00 in chips)
Seat 8: CardCrzy (6840.00 in chips)
Seat 9: davepsu (317.00 in chips)
Seat 10: FloppKing (2425.00 in chips)
davepsu: posts small blind $75
FloppKing: posts big blind $150
Dealt to Stu Nodd [ Qs Qd ]
bhollyewood: folds
h2oboy: folds
Stu Nodd: raises to $450
Kuter: folds
tulupoff: folds
donnydib: folds
CardCrzy: calls
davepsu: folds
FloppKing: folds
*** FLOP *** [ 9d Jh Td ]
Stu Nodd: bets $562
CardCrzy: raises to $1,124
Stu Nodd: is all in
CardCrzy: calls
*** TURN *** [ 3s ]
*** RIVER *** [ Jd ]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
CardCrzy wins $5,875 with Three of a Kind, Jacks

Dosen't show his hand he had [Js] [Ks] - Let's hear it for the 2 outer ,l,

Quick update, haven't played at all since my last post, I'm in the middle of laying down flooring, hopefully I hook up my home PC shortly. Anyway it's given me some time to do some thinking... I realized I've played a little over 30K hands of PLO (not a ton I realize that) about half of that at the $10 tables and half at $25 tables... All told I'm down about $70, no biggie as far as a loss, however I also don't feel as though I'm accomplishing much at the game either.

Baiscally it's not what I was hoping to see with my foray into big bet poker. Also not really sure that I really "get" PLO TBH. I mean I'd like to think I grasp a fair amount of the basics, at least enough to make some quid playing the micros, but from the looks of it that might not be the case. So I'm at a bit of a crossroads here, continue down the PLO path, or start playing another game. My purpose here is I just don't want to be a "hold em specialist" I would prefer to be a more rounded poker player.

So my options seem to be: If I want to continue with big bet poker move to NL, or continue down the PLO trail. If I want to incorporate another game into my playing I would probably focus on Stud. So I guess my only real decision is deciding whether to make the move to NL or keep at the PLO thing. I would really prefer to have my next game be a big bet game, simply because grinding from low limits in theory I should produce greater returns in a big bet game than I would at a fixed level.... Decisions, decisions..

Meh, totally missed some updates, let's see. I rarely play Fridays and Saturdays plus I spent the whole weekend laying down flooring si was kinda tired. Anyway I played a bit Sun night, not much as far as LHE games going so I played some PLO and NL...

PLO was pretty uneventfull, I had a very LAGgy player in PLO at both table, but the guy was sitting with about a $100 stack on 2 $20 tables, unfortunately I couldn't really find a situation to flop good against him. He was on my left on both tables not immediate but 1 seat away on 1 and 2 on the other.

On the NL tables I did pretty good, I finished 1 up a stack and the other up a half stack. I can't believe I'm actually going to say this but... I'm kind of enjoying playing 6 max NL  . I don't know if it's the novelty of it or what but I'm actually looking foward to firing up a few NL tables. The only downside is I'm mostly on Cake so tracking my play isn't all that easy... I mean I can track profit/loss but have no idea as to what type of game I'm playing. I have a very small sample on Stars and I'm playing around a 22/14 game in that minimal sample size. WR sucks too because IIRC my biggest losing hand is KK so that dosen't help matters.

For the time being I'm only playing the $10 tables, getting my feet wet. I've always been a BR nit so I'm sure I'll take too long to move up in limits. There was a point prior to the NT thing, where I was comfortable rolled for 5/10 LHE but rarely played higher than 2/4. Now that I'm back to trying to runnitup again I'll probably move up too slow again.

Turned out to be a good night, I basically lost every big hand I was involved in playing NL. All in on the flop against a half stack when I had a set of 8's on a 89x board against their JJ, caught a T on the turn and Q on the river for a straight. AI PF against a maniac who had KQ against my AK, blah, blah, blah.

Also despite my love hate relationship with donkamnets I played the $1500 guaranteed again, placed 3rd in that for a $175 win (okay I folded my way to 3rd). Thanks again to everyone who was sweating me in the IRC.

Last 2 night's I've been getting in later than I'd like to so I've been getting my sessions starts later than normal. Let's see, the night before last was basically a wash, although in Sklansky bucks I probably made a killing. I'm finding since I've been playing NL I haven't been getting my money in bad all that much. I mean granted there's times I screw up and by far have the worst of it, but that happen to the best of em. I've just not had a lot of hands hold up, flush draws getting htere, straights, etc.

Last night I finsihed up a with about 2/3 of a stack, I had one hand that sucked. I raise with 77 in MP, button calls, BB min raises me, me and button call. Flop comes 7,Q,x BB open shoves for the remainder of his stack (he has about a half stack), I flat call so does button. Turn is a T, I shove button calls, river was meaningless.

Turns out the BB who shoved the flop with TT (caught a 2 outer on the turn to win the main pot). The button had Qx for TPNK so I took the side pot. Which basically kept me about even but still it sucks to lose a pot with nearly 2 1/2 stacks in it.

Unfortuinatley I can't track everything on Cake but I have a spreadsheet that keeps track of profit and loss. So far I'm down about 5 buy-ins on Cake, and down another 1 buy-in on about 1K hands I've played on Stars, but with what I have in my PT stats KK is my 2nd biggest losing hand so I know it's not all that accurate.

I javen't been posting many hands on here partly because it's a pain in the ass to keep track of them withough PT, but I've been posting some up in the IRC channel as they happen and been getting some input from the guys in there (thanks guys BTW). A lot are more bad beats but there have also been some when I could've played better as well.

My goal is to win a minimum of 15 buy-ins for each level I play before moving up. As it stands right now I''m about 6 in the hole so it looks like I'll be at the bottom of the barrel for a while. :(
