Alright, here's the deal. I'm a 23 year old looking to make a buck playing poker. I've ran $100 into $1300, back down to $650, back up to $1650, and now I'm back down to $1000. This is over a span of about 6 months. This has all been down playing 25nl and 50nl. 50NL has been the majority of my losses lately and has just recently served me with a 10buyin downsing in the last 2 days. This has affected me pretty badly. My mindset is shot and I feel like just quitting all together. But I feel there is money to me made in poker...even for me, so....

I need help. That's just the bottom line. I simply CAN NOT WIN consistantly. I've come to btp for some help as it seems that this is a good community...and I suspect that there are at least a few players here who are profitable consistantly.

My bankroll right now sits at $1000. Down from 1600 2-3 days ago. Depressing, right? Very.

What I would really like to find is a coach, or mentor of sorts, who would be willing to go over hands with me and, pick things out that I'm doing wrong, etc. I have cardrunners videos. I watch them...but I still can't get that consistant winning down to a science. It just doesnt work. I always seem to win small and lose big.

Anyway, I'm here for help and this is my journal.

First off welcome to BTP and I like the journal title. I came here cuz I thought BTP meant Bottom of The Pile which is where I'm usually at.

Seriously though, you'll find a lot of good help here and if you're better at taking advice and learning than I am you'll be just fine.

If you're gonna play NL and you haven't already read them, I would suggest reading Angel Largay's book and Sklansky's book. Those 2 are the best NL ones I've read. Keep up with the Cardrunners videos, I haven't seen them but have heard good things about them.

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement. I'll check out those books you recommended. For right now, I'm going to kick it back down to 25NL. I might play that all the way up until the roll hits $2000 if things go well. 50NL has just been brutal to me so far. I really don't even think I'm getting outplayed that often..but the loss of money has come from a few bad decisions, a few coolers, and a few bad beats. People have been hitting sets ALL over me.

so 25nl it is for now. I might take a day or two off before I get started.

Play the big games when youre running good and the small games when youre running bad. 2k leaves a nice cushion for the variance at 50nl.

IMO its totally unrealistic to expect to win 1-2 buy ins per day over a long period of time.

FWIW, over the course of the today, I have dropped 9 buy ins and won back 11. Inbetween the losing and the winning I put a post up in the NL section, posted my stats and got some feedback, went back to the tables and ran better yes but even the smallest thing can be picked out by someone on here and it can make a big difference.

I suggest you stick your PT stats up in the NL section.
