I think you need to vary it up a little in this common situation. There is no right answer in this hand.

With that said:
The majority of the time against most players at lower limits it should be bet flop, bet turn, check behind on river.
These players who call the turn will call with any pair on the river so there is not much point in betting. There is a good discussion of this in SS2 jen harmon's limit chapter actually.
There is rarely a good case to be made to bet flop, check turn, call river unless you are against someone that always bets the river when the turn is checked regardless of what they have. That bet is better used on the turn.

At the higher limits it gets more complicated.
