Taking notes and NL blinds at all sites...

Postby Danhdan » Fri Nov 12, 2004 5:37 am

Two part question if you wouldn't mind answering...

1)Iceman, I loved your article about taking notes...I usually do take many of those particular notes, as well as write down betting patterns w/ certain hands preflop and on.
I was wondering if there was some other ideas you could provide beyond the basics that you could go over, certain notes that possibly speak to position, bet sizes, and anything else that might get a better read on an opponent. I guess what I am asking for is the next Article: Taking Notes, Advanced version. :) ( BTW, I usually sit there playing with that screen to that article open checking to see I am writing down everything I can.)

2)If anyone has information about the amount of blinds in the NL games at sites other than Party Poker, I would appreciate it. I am looking for a good deal, and the cheaper the blinds with the bigger buy-in, the better.

Thanks...

I covered most of my note categories in the article. I just dont have time to note a whole lot more playing multiple tables. Besides, nobody plays thesame everytime, so I dont think you want to get to specific in your note taking. You just want general ideas of plays they make. Sometimes I will note something like "call all the way TPNK...top pair no kicker). Which means that they will call every street with K7 with a flop of Kxx. Or I might note that they will call all in with a flush on a paired board. Against those guys who are always in the chronic flush chaser catagory, I will just go all in quickly if the board pairs but gives them a flush also, and I have a boat.

The blinds at most other major sites are half what they are at Party.

.50/$1 for $100 buy in....etc

Dan, if your are looking to play 2-4NL at the 400 buy in I would suggest Stars or Full Tilt. At both tables I am averaging a ridiculous amount per hour. I know it will drop as my hours increase but right now it is almost $200/hr.

About the notes, I am a big fan of noting what players will do preflop with there hands. Like last night I made it $20 to go with KK at the 2-4NL and got called by an utg limper with A6os. And another time I noticed that another player was raising according to strength of hand, he would raise the min with JT, make it 12 with KQ, make it 16 with AQ, and make it 20 with big pairs. Know what opponents do preflop help me ten fold post flop.

Thanks for the info...

I have noticed alot of people make their raises bigger for stronger hands(big pairs) and weaker for their drawing hands...makes it alot easier to know when someone is drawing dead against your set with their big Ace.
