Quick intro, though I guess most of you know me from UPF and other sites. I couldnt decide which the best forum to post on would be, so I plumped for NL ring as I don't play a lot of SnGs or limit HE.
I'm a 20-something part-time player from Britain, I've been playing since school and playing seriously now for a few years. My "Online" serious career has only really been going maybe 2 years now, starting off playing small NL ring games (25 and 50 on ultimatebet) and moving onto 1/2 and 2/4 limits at Cryptologic and Party. A lot of bonus whoring! I've always been very keen on omaha, although for a while I stuck with holdem as I was under the impression when I was starting up online that the softest, lowest variance games available were on the holdem tables.
After I realised I was making way more playing PLO high than anything else online, I've basically stuck to that as my main game, though I still play a lot of NL as a change of pace. I consider myself a pretty handy player at PLO high and haven't ever found a game online where I didn't consider myself one of the better players at the table. I play 100, 200 and 400 buy ins on a number of sites, most recently Stars, Empire (new account with rake rebate) and Royal Vegas being my main ones. I moderate an omaha section elsewhere. I've played O8 for a while too, but only got serious on it this year and although I'm a solid winning player, I don't always make as much as I would at PLO high. The reduced variance and soft O8 games make it a big winner for me, though, and I enjoy it more than most challenges these days. I play 200 and 100 buy ins usually.
In holdem, I played 100 and sometimes 50 buy-ins as my main game around the start of this year, and I still play a fair few of both. I mix in some 200NL at Stars sometimes, too. Very occasionally I play a 50 SnG or a multi as a change of pace.
Because I play a lot (in my spare time) and I play well below my bankroll (I guess I would strictly have had enough to dip into the $1000 buy-ins for a while now) I turn over a pretty solid monthly average; I could perhaps make more but I'm very happy with how my finances and poker career has bloomed since I discovered the online game. This time last year, I was planning on playing small limits to pick up $500-600 a month as a bit of pocket money. I now regularly make more than 4 times in a month in my spare time, and passed $5000 for the month first time in October. I'm currently buying a house, and now for the first time I can consider myself a "true" semi-pro as I will be relying on my winnings to pay for a number of my expenses, whilst still keeping my job on the side. At the moment this seems like the best strategy for me, in the medium term.
Right, this was longer than I was hoping for.... The site looks great, Ice, hope it works out!
