Congrats doctor......

BTW either you are either excellent at typing, or you really aren't as drunk as you should be....

I proofread after typing it out. I can't have my first doctoral post with spelling errors now can I?

Luck was apparently all used up on the dissertation, cuz it sure ain't showin up at the table. Poker is going about like normal. Best hands getting shat on, coolers, etc. etc. I'm still in a good enough mood that I can just cackle about it, but give me another 10K of bullshit and I'll need another break. Lost $74 this week in very sparse play. I had nearly recovered when I ran AK into KK, me flopping tp/tk w/ nutflush draw; bye-bye stack. That's twice this week, so roughly 500 hands when I've gotten the dreaded one out cooler. Both of them AK vs. KK. Bleh...I run so goot.

Should be able to open up an acct. tomorrow at AP. I expect to run normal there too.

Loyal readers, you guys suck. Results: #1 he had J5o, #4 he had ATo (I thought bet sizes were too small to fold), #5 he had A3 of hearts (no misprint, that's what he stacked off with).

I ran warm this week. I managed one set vs. overpair, only one overpair vs. set, and one set over set, but against a shorty. Made $175 at the 6-max tables. I lost around $50 playing limit, cuz I felt like getting kicked in the nuts. That's about it. We'll see how next week goes as to whether I'm improving or just running hot. I really think I'm not on a hot run of cards, but I can't tell in this game.

I've got around 30 papers to grade, and I seriously need to get them done. I've graded zero since Monday and I mentioned maybe having them done by tomorrow. Ooops!

Series was boring, unless you happen to be a Sox fan. Yawn.

Still have no idea if I've improved my 6-max game or not. Only played 7 hours this week. I ran hot during the week. Ran ice cold today. I need something like a normal run of cards to make a reasonable evaluation. Don't get me wrong, I like running hot; in fact, I had really forgotten just how nice it was. But running hot is not good for figuring out one's progress in a new game. Running ice cold presents the same difficulty with the added bonus of hating life. So anyway, I made $90. I don't think I'll be playing much this week either. I have 30 or so applications to send out for the philosophy job market, and if my letter writers can get off their asses, I may send out some law school apps as well.

I played roughly an hour and a half of 6-max and made a small amount. I spent the rest of the time playing various SNGs. I won a few more of the 5-table ones, but blanked out completely in the 2-table ones. Crushed the shit out of people in the one tables. Weekly profit came out to $518. My sample size is still under a hundred for all the variants, but should be over 100 for some of them by next Sunday. I'll post ItM and ROI then.

I will most likely continue with the SNGs next week as well. I need to make $800 or so to cover the application costs for law school. If I get any interviews for philosophy positions that will probably run me another $500 for travel expenses. I can always withdraw from the bankroll, but I'd prefer to win my way there. So, goal for this month is $1300, which means I need another $782. Oh, forgot first four days of the month...so another $140, so need another $642. This should be attainable, since the November faculty positions list was published on Friday and there are exactly five jobs I will be applying to. This is the worst year I have seen for the job market, so I'm glad I've got the back-up plan. Speaking of, applications were sent off on Friday, which sort of frees things up, but I get a new batch of student papers this week, so things are not all that freed up.
