Just because it seems like things are a bit slow around here lately. This is a hand I played at the Taj last week (2/4). You normal 2/4 game. Very loose, somewhat passive except for 1 or 2 players.

[7s] UTG+1 at a 9 or 10 handed table
UTG limps (station), I limp, MP1 (only LAG at the table) raises, 2 cold-callers (both stations), BB calls, UTG calls

[6s][9d] Pot 12 SB
UTG checks, I bet, MP1 raises, 2 cold-callers again, BB and UTG fold, I 3-bet, MP1 and both fish call.

Pot 12 BB
I bet, MP1 calls, 1 fish folds, the other calls

Pot 15 BB
I check, MP1 checks, fish is all-in for $1, I call, MP1 calls

Fish actually shows a hand [Jd]
MP1 slams down [Qs] and starts cursing
I attempt to muck, but MP1 demands to see my hand. Seems to happen to me more than any other player at any of my tables. They just can't comprehend how I'm constantly raising without the nuts.

Anyway, I thought it was fairly straightfoward:
Preflop - Knew there would be a lot of callers even with a raise
Flop - OESD + BDFD = about 8 outs
Turn - Picked up more outs, no braniner
River - damn pair meant I had to call the extra $1 into a $60 pot

Thoughts?

I don't like you betting into the pf raiser who is immediately on yor left. His expected raise should shut people out of the pot which is exactly what you don't want. I honestly would have played this straight and been a passive call monkey based on my position relative to pf raiser.

Well, as far as the play of the hand I would prefer to checkraise the field on the flop if you are determined to build a big pot on the flop. You have a relatively hidden draw (i.e. the 5 falls and no one is going to put you on a straight) - I have no idea why you would want to present the rest of the field wtih calling two bets cold when there is no way you will win at showdown without improving. I think if you had a hand like K9 where you wanted to get rid of some draws then I would lead into the preflop raiser.

As far as the IWTSTH rule, there are multiple threads about this in the past on the B&M forum on 4. At the Wynn, they have a rule that you have to suspect collusion and call a floor if you want to invoke the rule. Everywell else it is usually a free for all as far as what is allowed, but it really comes up very rarely since I usually play 8-16 or 4-8 and the players are less newb.

If you are going to continue to play 2-4 (which in live play is really considered unbeatable due to rake) I would just shrug it off and not worry about it - they are mostly newbs and don't know any better.
