One of the things i pride myself in is being able to react logically to bad situations, emotional events, bad luck, etc. Today, not so much. I guess it shows that this is something i still need to work on. Once i get down a buy-in or two, i really start to play a different game. I start to feel entitled to certain hands and wont be able to let them go. (for example, i hold AKo i get one passive caller to the flop, he check calls, then CRAI the turn. Normally, i fold this against most opponents but i lament my bad luck and call anyway and lose to his obvious 2 pair on the turn)
I was looking through my PT database and found that the majority of my winning sessions are short ones and most of my long sessions are break even or losing ones. I get into the habit of cutting off strong sessions early because i dont want them to become losing ones. I will prolong losing sessions because i dont want to stop while in the red. (yes, i understand how stupid this sounds)
This hand pushed me both to my 3 buy-in and emotional stopping point:

Between last night and today, i am down 5 buy-ins at NL50, my worst loss in quite a while. The good news is that i still am up over $500 for the month.
I need to set some ground rules for session length, etc. Here are a few ideas that I have.
1: 2 Hour max time limit
Too many times i am dragging out a session to 3, 4 hours chasing small losses that turn into big ones.
2: 5 minute minimum break every hour
You get it in a tourney, why not in cash games?
3: No stopping a session just because I am winning
4: If i am feeling upset, angry, tilted, frustrated, etc, stop for the night
All of this is very simple, i know, but i think it is simple things that cause a lot of good players to be losing players.
Im going to not play again until at least monday night. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions/thoughts let me know.
