June 6th, 2005 (Monday)

A light poker night overall. After I left work, I met Lindsay at a couple of stores so we could look into air conditioners for our house. I've been trying to avoid them, but when it comes down to it, I knew we'd be getting them eventually.

I made it home about 10 minutes before the HORSE tournament, so I put the kids to bed and registered up for it. Ten of us total and I just got beat horribly. It happens, and I ended up losing my side bet with Tightie, so that didn't help.

Luckily, during the tournament I was doing pretty well with the Razz table I was on, so the night ended up about $8 overall. Not a big night by any means.

Also, in the past few days, my character in Angband perished and I have gone through 3-4 others. I have started up the next character, another Human Wizard and he is already 12th level. Hopefully he will last longer than his predecessor.

June 7th, 2005 (Tuesday)

Well, I played a little last night, though my reasoning was not so good - and it means I definitely shouldn't have. But hey - that's a regret for another day.

Instead, I played three tables of Stud in the late hours on William Hill up until they took the site down for maintenance (and if they hadn't I probably would've played a little longer - so this was a good thing...).

I was having a great time on one of my tables because I was getting paid off on every single hand I had, including a $70+ pot with 2 others when I had a well buried boat. However, things weren't so rosy on the other two tables, so they pretty much cancelled out. When it was all said and done, I was down $10 in poker, but up $36.30 from 4 hours of the bonus on William Hill.

I also played some more Angband and my character is up to 14th level now. No notable equipment yet...

June 13th-15th (Monday - Wednesday)

Well, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, but at the same time, I haven't been playing as much poker lately. This is in part due to my great success so far this year, but also has to do with me needing some time with my family and such.

I have watched a few movies - Closer and Spiderman 2. Closer was a good film - but I have to say it is a little hard to follow at times. The characters are so well defined in it that it truly is an interesting movie. One word of caution - if you are a little skittish around what I will call "adult" language - you might want to avoid the movie. The movie is a long discussion about sex - but at the same time has very little in terms of explicit nudity (in fact only two scenes have any nudity at all - and they are both pretty much in the background).

Spiderman 2 was a great movie, though my wife didn't like it as much. I'm sure everyone who was planning to see it already has - but I'm a little behind in watching movies...

I've also been playing a little more Angband, and my latest character is now up to 21st level (wizard). He wields a Defending Whip - it being the only item with See Invisible so far. He did have an encounter with a baby bronze dragon (breathes confusion) that almost got the better of him, but managed to pull through alive.
